"heartssong"

"Perched on stool, almost hidden under massive furry hat and guitar, the quizzical and endearing heartsong/ingrid spouts forth her own blend of music and poetry. Lyrically powerful, the words seem to have worked their way up from the very centre of mother earth through the roots of the trees along the branches and out into the cosmos in spasms of seasonal reflection and humanistic musings. Simple yet profound, the songs are delivered with drama and passion. A curiously contagious act'

"Mother Earth"

"The 'Last monday Club' used to meet up at The Cross kings pub at King's Cross, London, once a month. It was in this warm but deliberately shabby and comfortable venue that I came across Ingrid Andrew. She appeared on stage that evening with her band. I recall there were three guitarists (including Ingrid), a mandolinist and a hand-drum player. The band were eager and good humoured. Ingrid for some reason reminded me of 'Mother Earth'. I felt the band were like her children. They all had the look of 'hippy' about them. I wasn't wrong about that:- The moment they started playing I was taken into the late '60s and early '70s; I felt I was listening to music and poetry reminiscent of The Incredible String Band, Roy Harper (or someone of that ilk and calibre) - and for thirty or forty minutes Ingrid weaved her magic of timeless word and song. I believe she is one of the finest singer songwriter/poets I have come across for many years. I gave up trying to pigeon-hole Ingrid that evening - but I never gave up on the image of Mother Earth."

"'HeartsSong at the Icarus Club'"

‘Ingrid Andrew does exactly what her "aka" (Heartssong) suggests - she sings beautiful songs straight from the heart ! Her three songs "Blue Blue Summer Sky", "A Nightingale Sings" and "They Spilled Her Blood" were absolutely brilliant and held us in rapt attention.’
