Lyrics

Ties that Bind

Written By: Heather Ferris

Standing empty and all alone,
The walls are slowly falling down.
Where once the laughter of little children could be heard.
There were hopes and there were dreams,
They’ve faded out of sight it seems
But the memories of a family still remain.

Chorus:
Four walls that stand in silence
Proud and strong on prairie soil.
Timbers weathered by the winds of passing time.
A reminder of the courage that it took to claim this land
The ties that bind me to this family of mine.

Where a garden used to be
Wild rose and sagebrush ramble free
Beside a creek where the water runs so clear.
A rusty pail beside the door,
And years of dust lies on the floor,
But you can still hear Grandpa’s fiddle softly play.

Chorus:
Four walls that stand in silence
Proud and strong on prairie soil.
Timbers weathered by the winds of passing time.
A reminder of the courage that it took to claim this land
The ties that bind me to this family of mine.
