The second album of her young career, Heather Green's Your Last War is a reverb- soaked pop-rocker that sounds like it was pulled from a nook between Radiohead's The Bends and OK Computer. Dynamic layering gives the album a refined feel (unusual for a home recording) with handclaps and doubled vocals giving the record a gospel tone. From the feedback-laden and delay knob twiddling opening riffs of "Salvation" to the echoey cooing strains of "Hey Chelsea" Green's vocals soar in the reverberated ice cavern that is Daniel Ledwell's production. Not only is this album a testament to Green's power as a performer, but a sign of Ledwell's Daniel Lanois-esque depth as a sound engineer. - The Coast
Heather Green is a transplant, having left the sweet smells of the Pacific to find a home here in Canada’s Ocean playground. That being said, she’s engrained herself into the musical community, and the saltwater air is now a part of her sound. Well, that and maybe working with producer Daniel Ledwell and getting contributions from Halifamous players like Jenn Grant, Rose Cousins, Don Brownrigg and Erin Costelo.
But this is more than just an collection of guests and more songs about an artist finding a new home. Green explores dark and sultry vibes, but easily falls into more soulful compositions. Ledwell’s diversity and subtle touch are essential to the overall sound of this record, but Green’s willingness to jump without looking really makes the relationship work.
Green’s voice bends around endless textures and tempos to tell stories of love and regret. Heather moves with confidence when required; her presence on “Dirty Love” commands attention, but it’s when she opens up and hints at a shy insecurity that I feel a connection. When Green exhales, the results feel more like an easy conversation than a spotlight hungry performance.
Your Last War may be born and based here, but the songs don’t sound like anything being made in Halifax right now. Green has folk roots that have only been pushed by the company she keeps, but when needed the electronics swell to frame big city dream and failures and really improve the flow of the record. Green will launch her LP on May 12th at The Company House and even though half of the North End might be on stage over the course of the night, you should show up and share in that spirit of community. - HeroHill

That is, until she moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia later that year. Since arriving in Canada, she’s continued to make a name for herself, though now with the Maritimes music scene.
The east coast of Canada is known for many things; absolutely amazing sea food, incredibly friendly people, and a strong musical backbone that is woven through all aspects of their culture.
It takes a lot of talent to thrive in that kind of atmosphere, and that is just what Heather has done. She now shares the stage with the best from the east coast… and she can do that thanks to a heart-wrenching voice, lyrics which we can easily relate to, and simple, soulful melodies which make listeners sigh and sit back.

In the Dead of Winter kicked off this year at the Company House with three very different ladies performing many different tunes. From So-Cal to Motown to Pulp Fiction, it’s not that there was something for everyone between the music of Heather Green, Cyndi Cain and Brandi Disterheft, but that in the mix of genres there was something to surprise you and shake off the cold.
Haligonian Heather Green opened, backed up by nimble-fingered guitarist Rick Edgett. On disc, Green sings about heartache and love in the soft, modulated tones of pop, sounding like a pastel hacienda on the California coast where she grew up. In promos for Ithe festival, Green was described as a folk act, though she says “I never would have put myself in that category.” She adds that “I never would have called John Mayer folk, and he’s one of my biggest influences.”
On stage, Green projects a much grander sound than her album suggests. It gets away from straddling the line between typical sun-drenched pop and Green’s more straightforward self, and becomes wholly her own music—more grounded and grittier, and honestly more fun. Heather Green is a transplanted emerging artist in Halifax, Nova Scotia, originally from California. Since the release of her first EP One Year Happy in January 2009, she has maintained a local presence wherever she resides.
She started playing local venues in Los Angeles with fellow Los Angeles musician, Kari Newhouse in 2008. It was during this time, Heather was spotted by Engineer/Producer Michael Bizar at Room 5, a popular Los Angeles listening venue, who offered to help begin recording her material.
After a successful CD Release at Hollywood’s Molly Malone’s, she continued playing the local live scene (BB Kings, Ghengis
Cohen, The Hotel Café) and recorded with artists like A.J. Croce (Cage of Muses) until her move to Halifax in August 2009.

Since moving to Halifax, Green has been able to land lucrative gigs and musical pairings, and was also featured in The Coast’s New Music Issue 2010.
In 2010 Heather signed a music publishing deal with Daryl Landry of J. Adair Music, with her songs currently being shopped in Nashville, TN.
Heather has been performing in and around the Maritimes since arriving in Nova Scotia. She has shared the stage with such notable artists as: Rose Cousins, Erin Costelo, The Cliks, Ryan MacGrath, Rae Spoon, Cyndi Cain, Brandi Disterheft, Ria Mae, Natasha Peach, and more.
Beginning May, 2011, Heather will be recording a new album with Dan Ledwell, whose latest production work includes Jenn Grant's latest album, "Honeymoon Punch".
