Bio

Heather Loewen moved to Whitehorse in 1997 from the Okanagan valley in BC via 5 years in Vancouver. An aspiring novelist, she morphed into a singer/songwriter under the influence of Caribou Records artists Kim Beggs, Anne Louise Genest and Kim Barlow.
Taking lyrical influence from favourite authors Elmore Leonard and Tom Robbins, along with mental meanderings and life experience, her songwriting sets her apart from the roots crowd with it's pop/rock feel.
In 2002, Heather received her first demo recording grant and used it to start a band, the Daily Special, which has gone on to receive further awards that will result in their debut EP later this year.
While the band gets together for music festivals and recording sessions, Heather plays solo year round and released her self-produced EP, I wish I knew in January 2006.
