Biography

Rooted in piano rock/alt pop, Canadian singer songwriter Heather Hill is artist on a mission - she wants to make a positive impact on the world. Music and story-telling are her ways to share inspiration with her audiences.

Hill's voice has often been compared to Fiona Apple and Kate Bush, while her songwriting draws comparisons to Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles and a young Leonard Cohen. Heather is working on releasing her new FACTOR-funded single and video called "Stupid Happy". There are many more songs queued up with her co-writers and individually for release in 2014. Enjoying her high ranking on Reverbnation and Soundcloud, she is committed to growing her following and writing well crafted and authentic songs for film and tv.

She launched her sophomore album Leuty Station in May 2012 with a CD release party to a full house at the Drake in Toronto. The album featured a collection of songs that speak to the courage in facing life challenges head on. Hill quickly followed the success of the launch with a Canadian tour which included opening for an acoustic Treble Charger show and receiving media attention from CFRB In the Studio, Rogers Daytime Toronto, CBC Radio1, music bloggers and local feature writers (the Beach Metro and the Local).

Leuty Station is a departure from her first album, Listen (2005), which was produced by Steve Addabbo of Shelter Island Sound (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin) and released in New York. Her guitar-driven debut effort was based on experiences in her life at the time quitting her big high tech job, traveling the world and living in New York.

For her second album, she chose highly regarded composer/vocal instructor/producer Orville Heyn (Telma Hopkins, Suzie McNeil, Mike Myers). ound (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin) and released in New York. She puts on annual shows to raise money for War Child, Ovarian Cancer Canada and various women/children's associations. Lyrics

Second Skin

Written By: Heather Hill

My brow is damp
My cheeks are flush
It’s been so long
I hope you’re in a rush
Cause it’s hot in here

My legs are smooth
My neck smells sweet
It’s been so long
Honey can’t we meet?
Cause it’s soft in here

Your love is my second skin
Your love is my second skin

My back is golden
My hips are curved
It’s been so long
You know it’s well deserved
It’s pretty in here

Your love is my second skin
Your love is my second skin
When you’re gone from me,
I feel like I’m falling
When you’re gone from me,
I feel like I’m falling apart

All I want to do is dance the night away
Hope you don’t mind no space in our sway
I want it tight in here… tight in here

My knees are shaking
My heart beats fast
It’s been so long
Let’s make this last
I’m ready in here.

(Chorus) – fade

Home

Written By: Heather Hill

It’s a stone, cold day
The children bundle up to play
Hockey nets, bails of hay
Frame the pond of frozen grey

Maple sap fills the line
Raging fire burns the pine
Sugared snow, mulled wine
We live for this happy time

On a perfect winter’s day
In a small town kind of way
No matter how far we stray
Home is never far away

The train rolls down the track
Whistle blows, a smoky stack
The curious crowd waves back
Staying close, warm in the pack

On a perfect winter’s day
In a small town kind of way
No matter how far we stray
Home is never far away

Memories of childhood are near
The scents and sounds are dear
Those times together well spent
Cause we lived in the present

On a perfect winter’s day
In a small town kind of way
No matter how far we stray
Home is never far away

She's So Hungry

Written By: Heather Hill and Mark Zubek

Girls want to be her and the boys want to do her
And she much too busy working out her figure
But the time is passing and she’s got to make her move

She eats her greens but she holds the sauce
If it’s baked or boiled, she’s always the boss
Now she’s off to the gym, keeping up her Barbie groove

Hard to be a perfect girl
She’s so angry at the world

She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
Searching for, something more, never satisfied
She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
She looks at you, and sees right through with her guilty eyes

Skinny jeans and sexy hair
Her body’s flawless with skin to bare
Her phone’s always ringing, but she’s falling apart at the seams

She makes her grades but it’s hard to think
Her stomach growls more water to drink
She stares at the pin-ups of her supermodel dreams

All the pressure in the world
She’s a really angry girl

She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
Searching for, something more, never satisfied
She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
She looks at you, and sees right through with her guilty eyes

The sweetness in her life is gone
She’ll pay any price to belong
She’ll do anything for fame and stardom

She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
Searching for, something more, never satisfied
She’s so hungry, She’s so hungry
She looks at you, and sees right through, with her guilty eyes

Find Your Way

Written By: Heather Hill and Mark Zubek

You want to fit in
You want to be invited to the party now and then

You want to be liked
You want to be noticed when you walk into the room

Is it so hard to be included,
When you have so much to give?

Find your way
Tomorrow is another day
You’re okay
No matter what people say
You’ll find your way

You want to be heard
You want to be treated with a little respect

You want to know
What it feels like to be told right to your face

Is it so hard to be included
When you have so much to give?

Find your way
Tomorrow is another day
You’re okay
No matter what people say
Believe in yourself
Look for the truth
Dig a little deeper within
To find your way

Sticks and stones will break your bones
But words will never hurt you
Don’t let them, don’t let them get to you

Find your way
Tomorrow is another day
You’re okay
No matter what people say
You’ll find your way

You want to be good
You want to be admired
For the person that you are

How Long

Written By: Heather Hill and Alec Steinwall

How Long

I can’t seem to get you off of my mind
I feel you there
Hiding inside
I can feel you looking out from my eyes
Changing my world
Darkening my skies

How Long, How Long
Before you’re Gone
How Long, How Long?

I used to see colours in the rain
They turned to grey
All of them drained
Everything that used to taste so sweet
Is sour and bruised
Fallen fruit

How Long, How Long
Before you’re Gone
How Long, How Long?

Get out of here
Leave me be, Leave me be
Get out of here

How Long, How Long
Before you’re Gone
How Long, How Long?

I thought I had shown you to the door
But you shook my fear
You took even more
That same force that’s keeping me alive
Has turned against me
Speeding my dive

How Long, How Long
Before you’re Gone
How Long, How Long?

Between the Leather and the Lining

Written By: Heather Hill and Orville Heyn

Between the Leather and the Lining

Doesn’t matter if it’s Prada, Coach, Gucci or Kate Spade
A good handbag is a must-have
You ever wonder what’s inside?

There’s a wallet, cell-phone a lipstick tube that’s new
A sandwich or a female thing or two
Do you ever wonder what’s inside?

Between the leather and lining’s your clue
Between the leather and the lining’s the true you
It’s the perfect little hairclip that keeps your vision clear
That yummy stick of gum so loud it pops your every fear

If it’s a knock-off or a rip-off from a corner stand or van
Every handbag has a story
Ever wonder what’s inside?

If it’s tired and it’s worn out cause it carries heavy loads
You can always find her sister
But you’ve got to change up what’s inside

Between the leather and lining’s your clue
Between the leather and the lining’s the true you
It’s the jangling of the change you’ve lost between the seams of time
The little black book that knows your past and your courting crime

Doesn’t matter if it’s red or gold, Burberry or tweed
A handbag is a statement
So look at me I’ve got it all

Between the leather and lining’s your clue
Between the leather and the lining’s the true you
It’s the note from you I never read cause I used it for my gum instead
A purse, it can be trusted to conceal what was unsaid

Between the leather and lining’s your clue
Between the leather and the lining’s the true you

Doesn’t matter if it’s Prada, Coach, Gucci or Kate Spade

27

27

When you’re right
You’re so damn right
You need a lift
A little lipstick punch
Kicking back
You jump and whirl
There’s a big world waiting
And it’s a pearl

You’re so tough
But just enough
Dig and Crack
Suck the marrow out
Red is life
And life is stone
It’s a road you travel
Through lands unknown

27 miles, 27 trials before you’re home again
27 nights, 27 years to find your light
and turn it on, turn it on

Love devours
And in its wake
There’s always ten
There’s always fifty more
Watching you bow then dive
There’s a hurricane and
It’s got your name

27 miles, 27 trials before you’re home again
27 nights, 27 years to find your light
and turn it on

A heroine for love’s inventions
A Desdemona heart, strong and true

27 miles, 27 trials before you’re home again
27 nights, 27 years to find your light
27 lies, with 27 truths to take your place and when
27 doubts, bring 27 triumphs of the heart
You turn it on…you turn me on…you turn me on…
