"Leuty Station is a remarkable and beautiful sounding disc"

"Heather Hill's Leuty Station is a remarkable and beautiful sounding disc. With strong vocals, imaginative words, music with hooks, expansive arrangements, and sometimes epic production, she presents an interesting strong female image lyrically." - Blair Packham, CFRB In the Studio - CFRB 1010 In the Studio - Live on Radio and Podcast May 5, 2012

"May 2012 Issue. The Powerhouse women musicians feature!"

Leuty Station is like walking into a beautiful dream and not wanting to wake up from it. Each song is a story of a life event that everyone can appreciate and associate a part of their own life with. It’s hard to pick just one favourite song as the album is a mix of all the music genres I love.

Heather Hill is not only an incredibly talent musician, who weaves beautiful stories into music, she is an inspiration to her fellow artists. Leaving the corporate world to pursue her dream as an artist is both brave and terrifying and you can feel the power of her love for her chosen profession in each and every song. - Lipstick Indie review

"Beautiful, moving & powerful – Heather Hill’s Leuty Station"

"Leuty Station" is beautiful, moving and powerful CD of inspiring original tunes performed by the lovely, talented - and classy - Heather Hill and a selection of incredible musicians. - life with more cowbell

"Album Review"

She uses vocals that have an altogether wide range to them; in some songs, such as “Leuty Station” and “How Long” she uses higher pitches, while in songs such as “Second Chance” and “Wading Through Normal” she tends to stick with lower pitched, more monotone sounds. All in all, her vocals and the sentiment of the album parallel female vocalists such as Tori Amos and Kate Bush. - Alec Cunningham

"CD Release"

omparisons of Heather Hill to the singer-songwriter Tori Amos are inevitable. The piano-driven and rock-backed compositions are similar, but the content on Hill’s album is less obtuse and dark than Amos’s style. Many of the songs on Leuty Station are written to be inspiring power ballads or lighthearted major key tunes, like the horn-embellished song “Between the Leather and the Lining”. Head over to Hill’s blog for a track-by-track dissection of the songs on the new record.

Bio

Rooted in piano rock/alt pop, Canadian singer songwriter Heather Hill is artist on a mission - she wants to make a positive impact on the world. Music and story-telling are her ways to share inspiration with her audiences.

Hill's voice has often been compared to Fiona Apple and Kate Bush, while her songwriting draws comparisons to Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles and a young Leonard Cohen. Heather is working on releasing her new FACTOR-funded single and video called "Stupid Happy". There are many more songs queued up with her co-writers and individually for release in 2014. Enjoying her high ranking on Reverbnation and Soundcloud, she is committed to growing her following and writing well crafted and authentic songs for film and tv.

She launched her sophomore album Leuty Station in May 2012 with a CD release party to a full house at the Drake in Toronto. The album featured a collection of songs that speak to the courage in facing life challenges head on. Hill quickly followed the success of the launch with a Canadian tour which included opening for an acoustic Treble Charger show and receiving media attention from CFRB In the Studio, Rogers Daytime Toronto, CBC Radio1, music bloggers and local feature writers (the Beach Metro and the Local).

Leuty Station is a departure from her first album, Listen (2005), which was produced by Steve Addabbo of Shelter Island Sound (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin) and released in New York. Her guitar-driven debut effort was based on experiences in her life at the time quitting her big high tech job, traveling the world and living in New York.

For her second album, she chose highly regarded composer/vocal instructor/producer Orville Heyn (Telma Hopkins, Suzie McNeil, Mike Myers). ound (Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin) and released in New York. She puts on annual shows to raise money for War Child, Ovarian Cancer Canada and various women/children's associations. She works with the Positive Music Imperative to help place artists into positive outlets for their music. For the past six years, she has run a thriving songwriting guild in her basement with seasoned songwriters. She runs a healthy snack program at a local primary school. She is also an active member with the Songwriting Association of Canada. In the past year, she has been touring as a part of an indie collective called "the Four Winds". The musicians include Kat Leonard, Meghan Morrison and Arlene Paculan. This group plays originals as well as popular cover music!
