BIO FOLLOWED BY AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS:

When the ten year run of Providence, Rhode Island’s award winning touring rock act The StrereoBirds (formerly The MockingBirds) came to an end in 2005, it didn’t stop lead singer Heather Rose! She switched gears and performed as a singer-songwriter.

In no time, Heather was playing high profile gigs such as The Newport Sunset Festival, Coors Light Maxim Model Search, and The RI Pride Fest. She also opened for Zox, and State Radio at the famous Strand (Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel), and played to a SOLD OUT crowd when she opened for Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing.

Winner of 4 Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll Awards, including BEST FEMALE VOCALIST and BEST SONG: "Here Again", and last years' BEST ROOTS ACT, Heather Rose's melodic, magnetic vocals follow in the tradition of Sheryl Crow, Liz Phair, and Aimee Mann. Her lyrics, according to the Northeast Performer are, "…clever and honest and her delivery is pure energy". Boston's The Noise, where Heather took home Best Female Singer in 2001 states she "…has a stage presence that transcends genre. She can sing sweetly or lustily, scream righteously, and draw the audience in. Her songs are folky, gently twangy, and lovely. (And catchy!)".

Heather Rose continues to play at great singer-songwriter venues such as Stone Soup in Pawtucket, RI and get noticed throughout New England for her unique songwriting style. Heather stands out amongst the thousands of female guitarists who are carbon copies of artists that have already crafted their sound. Heather Rose sounds like Heather Rose and that’s what draws her growing fan base in!

An increasingly successful solo career brought forth yet another chapter in Heather Rose’s rockumentary:

Created to “move the orchestra in my head onto a stage”, HEATHER ROSE AND THE DRAMA are the only area band that combine SIX MUSICAL GENRES (Rock, Pop, Americana, Blues, Funk, & Jazz) to create a new flavor of rock music all their own! Joined by Ian Conway (lead guitarist), T.J. Morris (bass), and Andy Tarter (drums) who bring influences of blues, funk, and jazz into the mix, Heather Rose and The Drama provide the vehicle for a all of Heather’s vocal stylings: wailing rock anthems, slower pop ballads, heartfelt twang-filled tales and of course Heather’s trademark break-up tunes that come in all forms!

Most recently (2007), she has been nominated for BEST FEMALE VOCALIST in the 2 biggest entertainment papers in the area: The Providence Phoenix’s Best Music Poll and Motif Magazine’s Music Awards (where she was nominated for 4 awards in 2006). She has also been selected to perform at this year’s BLOCK ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL this summer, The 2007 Goddess Show local headliner AND her band was chosen as the Alternate Band in 95.5 FM WBRU’s Rock Hunt! That means out of over 300 entries, Heather placed at #9!

Heather Rose can be seen rocking up and down the East coast accompanied by The Drama or hitting the stage solo acoustic style, performing the high energy-rock-pop set that gets everyone's attention. Heather's quirky interpretation of rock supplies tongue-in-cheek pop to make you think, feel and move.

Lasso

Written By: Heather Rose

Copyright 2007 ASCAP

I've got just enough money
for a long length of rope
but I"m not gonna put it
where you think it's going
Gonna lasso myself something solid

Steady my grip and pull myself up
from the big black hole
that you kicked me into
or maybe I put myself there
at this point - I don't know

Come on Baby!
Who's gonna save me?
It's not you baby...
whose gonna save me.
It's never you baby...
but I wish it was!

I've got just enough time
to hear your side
but I'm not gonna promise
that I won't get angry
Not much left for me to be feeling

When you love too heavy
and you care too long
then you're left open-ended
til the feeling's gone
It's rational to retrace details
in your mind

Well...
Come on Baby!
Who's gonna save me?
It's not you baby...
whose gonna save me.
It's never you baby...
and that's alright!

'Cause I've got time
to figure it all out now
Yeah I've got time
whether I know it or not
Yeah whether I know it or not
Oh!

What didn't kill me
only made me stronger
Gonna use all my new strength
to push me up from the bottom
And I garuntee
that I'll get farther
using my own two feet
and my head and my heart

I've got just enough money
for a long length of rope
but I"m not gonna put it
where you think it's going
Gonna lasso myself something solid

New Girlfriend

Written By: Heather Rose

 Heather Rose 2007 ASCAP

I'm sick
of having conversations
Where I stick
in all the things that you'd say
By myself
I'm trying to piece together
This mess

You lied
You said that you were honest
I tried
But you don't really want this
Realize
The reasons that you gave me
Weren't true

Blue eyes and a good lay
That's all that's left of you today
A disappointing sad display
Of who you are
Who you really are

So go ahead and F@!# your new girlfriend
I seem to think it's all for the best
in the end
Still I wonder how long you waited
After I left your bed
Til you invited her in
Yeah you invited her in

You think
that I'm over-reacting
I think
that you're not fully grasping
The concept
your body makes a promise
in some ways
Maybe
the timing was just awful
But baby
you could at least be thoughtful

And not grab
the closest warm body
Near you

Blue eyes and a good lay
That's all that's left of you today
A disappointing sad display
Of who you are
Who you really are

So go ahead and F@!# your new girlfriend
I seem to think it's all for the best
in the end
Still I wonder how long you waited
After I left your bed
Til you invited her in
Yeah you invited her in

I'm sure she'll be
As good as me
If that's what you
Were hoping would be
The case
Well just in case it isn't
I give you permission
To pretend
That I'm the one there instead
‘Cause she can't see what's in your head
And I won't tell her
Unless she's asking

So go ahead and F@!# your new girlfriend
I seem to think it's all for the best
in the end
Still I wonder how long you waited
After I left your bed
Til you invited her in
Yeah you invited her in

Kickstart

Written By: Heather Rose

6,5,4,3,2,1
I am on the brink of
something good I feel it
so get up, get up!
I mean it!

Kickstart up my morning
before the day is dawning
one look from you will do it
Get up! Get up!

Stay by my side and I
swear to God that I would
never let anything at all
hurt you

I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
sick of this feeling
When everything I want
is everything you've got
it's only gonna get
better from here on...

I gave you my number
but i never thought
that you would call up
my phone
rang the very next day
Get up! Get up!
I'd say
I've got something special
there's no need to test you
I feel it when I hear your name

Stay by my side and I
swear to God that I would
never let anything at all
hurt you

I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
sick of this feeling
When everything I want
is everything you've got
it's only gonna get
better from here on...

If you doubt me
look around see
everything has changed for the better
with you in my
life I'm given
reason to live
and be a better person
than I've ever been

I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
I'm never gonna get
sick of this feeling
When everything I want
is everything you've got
it's only gonna get
better from here on...

Stay True

STAY TRUE- (copyright 2009)

I'm not trying to be inconciderate
to what you want or what you need
I'm just needing
to stay true to me

One day you're here
and now you're gone
and I'm expected to move on
but my heart and my head in my hands
ain't going nowhere

[BRIDGE]:
And I will wait in the corner
quietly looking busy
for the day when it's over
and you tell me that you miss me
Cause I know Fate is the controller
and it's way out of my hands
Yeah yeah...

[CHORUS]:
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(I'm just being honest)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(Get on with your process)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
I'll get out of your way
but there's no way I'm gonna say
You weren't crazy about me

You and I both know the significance
of every kiss and every touch
How anything we felt before was not enough
One day it's here and now it's gone
and now you're trying to move on
but the memory of me in your head and your bed
ain't going nowhere

[BRIDGE]:
And I will wait in the corner
quietly looking busy
for the day when it's over
and you tell me that you miss me
Cause I know Fate is the controller
and it's way out of my hands
Yeah yeah...

[CHORUS]:
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(I'm just being honest)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(Get on with your process)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
I'll get out of your way
but there's no way I'm gonna say
You weren't crazy about me

[MIDDLE 8]
You're only suited for each other
cause you're used to one another
you've got a history
and history has a tendency
of repeating itself
and presently
the future is unknown

[EXTENDED BRIDGE]:
And I will wait in the corner
quietly looking busy
for the day when it's over
and you tell me that you miss me
Cause I know Fate is the controller
and it's way out of my hands
All your silly plans
are way out of my hands
Yeah yeah...

[EXTENDED CHORUS]:
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(I'm just being honest)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(Get on with your process)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
I'll get out of your way
but there's no way I'm gonna say
You weren't crazy about me

I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(I'm just being honest)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
(Get on with your process)
I'll step back but I'm not stepping down
I'll get out of your way
but there's no way I'm gonna say
You weren't crazy about me

Might As Well

Written By: Heather Rose

MIGHT AS WELL - (copyright 2009)

I didn't ask to be in this position
I was thrown here by somebody else
Now that I find myself in this situation
I might as well I might as well

You didn't ask for these circumstances
You were pushed far passed the point of resolve
Now that you find yourself with open days and a clearer mind
You might as well You might as well

[CHORUS]
Try to see
that what went down
has nothing to do with you
It just brought you here
and here is all you have right now

I believe
all that has changed
I'll some how make sense of it one day
but it brought me here
and here is all I have right now

I'm gonna gather up all I'll take with me
And what I don't need I'll leave it behind
Maybe I'll find myself someone to talk to (yeah)
I might as well I might as well

You take a good long look at your surroundings
things that are healthy and people who aren't
You just might find yourself someone you can pass the time with (yeah)
You might as well You might as well

[MIDDLE 8]
Sometimes
there are no answers
to be found
and no words to say

[COUNTRY TYPE CHORUS]
Try to see
that what went down
has nothing to do with you (drums come in on this line)
It just brought you here
and here is all you have right now

I believe
all that has changed
I'll some how make sense of it one day
but it brought me here
and here is all I have right now

[AAAH's over full CHORUS]

I believe... all that has changed
I will make sense of it
but it brought me here
and here is all I have right now

It brought me here, and here is all I have right now

Set List

Heather Rose and the Drama set lists combine a majority of originals with a couple covers thrown in for flavor: Covers include Led Zeppelin, White Stripes, Cranberries, John Prine, and several classic rock tunes from the late 60's and early 70's. Other covers are listed below.

Heather's solo shows incorporate a range of sounds from slow ballad-ee twang to pure pop rock. Imagine a power house, rockin, hoe-down performance that blows you away within the hour-long set. She feels out her venues and adjusts her performance style, volume, and overall energy to what the crowd and atmosphere call for.

Heather Rose and The Drama play the same tunes with a grittier edge, a bigger sound, and a live show that will have you moving in no time!

HRD prefer shorter sets that leave the audience wanting more. A typical set lasts 30-45 minutes, but the band has 2-3 hours of solid rocking material.

The best way to love Heather Rose & The Drama is to appreciate how both sides of Heather's musi
