Heather Vassar

Heather Vassar was born and raised in a small West Texas town called Big Spring. In the second grade, Heather gave her life to Christ. Not knowing what all that would entail, God began to work in her life. After her junior year of high school, Heather took a trip to Nicaragua. There she spent a week meeting the needs of uncivilized villages and primarily hanging out with the children. Seeing the heartache and poverty they endure, Heather vowed to always return no matter where life took her, hoping to help out in some way. She played softball from the very young age of five all the way through high school. Upon graduating high school, Heather received an offer to play softball at Texas Tech University. Naturally, it was not hard to accept. This had been a dream of hers and she thought this is exactly what life would look like. However, it was there she realized that softball wasn’t her biggest dream anymore. Not knowing what her big dream was, she quit the game. God then began to change the desires of her heart from sports to music. Not understanding it completely, she could never imagine life without the competitive realm of sports, but wanted to pursue music full force. Since her second year of college, Heather has spent every waking moment, when she was not in school, playing any instrument she could get her hands on. Teaching herself to play the guitar, piano, drums, and most recently the violin, she also began writing her own songs. She recently graduated from Texas Tech University in May of 2009 with a Marketing degree, and has also been attending South Plains Junior College studying in the Commercial Music program. From there, she will graduate with a Certificate of Proficiency in Commercial Music Performance in May 2010. As of January 2009, she released an EP entitled, “Chasing Beautiful”, with all songs being originals. Not knowing where life is going to take her, but being assured that no matter God is in control, she is loving every minute of it. If she thinks of what her life used to be and what is has become only God’s grace and gifts could have gotten her where she is. Without stopping there Heather is pursuing music and is looking to move to Nashville upon graduation.
