The Bridge to Dreamland
By Heather Wise

This record came together like a dream. I had dreamt for years of recording in a church, ever since playing the most stunning Steinway in a little country church in Stowe, VT. I even cut out pictures of churches and bridges and put them in a book of dreams.

So when engineer/mixer Matthew Cullen (My Morning Jacket, Norah Jones, Ray LaMontagne) suggested we record at Dreamland, a world class recording studio in an old church in the Catskills, NY, I instantly agreed!

I took a band of top flight musicians up from NYC with me to track this record (mostly) live in 2 1/2 days. We had a great time doing it.

We found out artists such as Bob Dylan, Michelle Shocked and the B52s made records at Dreamland, but more exciting to me was that one of the new managers of the studio was my high school boyfriend's cousin, amazing drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Indigo Girls, Hall & Oates, etc.)!

It was things like the church/studio and Jerry being there that made me know that you do not have to be the bridge yourself, the universe will bridge to you. If you want to get to the other side of the bridge, be yourself, love and do what you will, and enjoy the ride. Don't give up on your Dreamland!

“The Bridge” was mastered by Fred Kevorkian (Willie Nelson, Regina Spektor, Ryan Adams, Dave Matthews Band) at Avatar Studios in New York.

"The Bridge" is about bridging from who you are to who you want to be and allowing yourself to be bridged to by what, or Who, is Beyond. We are the bridge made between Heaven and earth. Or, as T.S. Eliot wrote, "You are the music while the music lasts."
