Bio

Simon and Zoltan (aka Zoli) met in Kindergarden, and started coming up with songs on the playground, can you believe that! In High School they formed a real band and kept it up ever since. They then pulled in Albert from Craigslist. Kelly started by coming up to play tambourine at one of our shows. It worked instantly! The band was brought together by their shared love of bands like The Velvet Underground, King Khan and BBQ, and the Grateful Dead.

Heavy Metal For Girls was first an expression we used to describe our music, and when we noticed people found it funny, we thought …this is perfect, plus its googleable!

We conscientiously write songs we think people will like (not just songs we would like). The songs are designed to work well for the venues we expect to play in. David Byrne has a great TED.com talk on ‘how architecture helped music evolve’ – great talk.

We play Garage Rock Gypsy Disco with songs about women and nonsense :) We’ve played countless shows in Toronto… Lee’s Palace, The Bovine, The Silver Dollar, The Sister, The Velvet Underground, The Painted Lady, Rancho Relaxo, Clintons (and more…). Hope to see you at our next show!
