Hector Rodríguez Silveira
Vocalist, Guitarist, Bassist, Composer, Arranger
1970 Born in Camaguey, Cuba.
Began independent study of guitar at the age of nine. Formed his first music group, "Estrellas del Futuro" at age eleven. Participated in various festivals, winning first prizes and a focus on Cuban popular music.
1986 Professional School of Art Instructors, Granma Specialization in Direction of Musical Groups.
1987-91 Jose White Professional School of Music, Camaguey. Specialization in Guitar with Professor Mirtha de la Torre. Participated in: Almadeo Rodan Competition, Fiestas de la Joven Guitarra, Chamber Music Festivals, International Guitar Festival, etc. Graduated 1991 with highest qualifications, performing "Concierto de Aranjuez " by Joaquin Rodrigo in his senior recital.
1991-95 Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, Music Department. Accepted to study in the Catedra, de Guitarra with Professor Argentino Victor Pellegrini.
1988 performed with Bobby Carcasses in his group, "AFROJAZZ". Bassist, vocalist, arranger.
1999 Partcipated in the musical production of the AFROJAZZ CD, "Homenaje a los Crooners" on the French label, P.M. Marketing Productions

International Tours
1993 Argentina Sponsored by the National University of Rosario and the Office of Culture of the City of Rosario. Performed as guitar soloist and as part of popular music groups in Santa Fe and Buenos Aires. Particpated in a Classical Guitar workshop given by Maestro Miguel Angel Girollet.
1995 Martinique Tour with his group, " Cafe con Leche ". Martinique/Cuba cultural exchange.
1999 United States Guitar recitals at Sweet Briar College and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Performances in Chicago with various groups and musicians.

1990 Member of National Guitar Orchestra of Cuba, under direction of Gran Maestro, Leo Brower.
1993 Performed in Havana's International Festival Jazz Plaza '93
1993, 95 Presented Guitar Master Classes in Argentina and Martinique.
1998 Performed International Festival Jazz Plaza '98 with Bobby Carcasses and "AFROJAZZ".
1999 Presented Master Class in Cuban Music at Northeastern University, Chicago, IL.
2003 Chicago International Salsa Congress, alongside Ismael Rivera, José "El Canario" Alberto, Pito Nieves, and Michael Stuart.
