Heels over Head

Heels over Head is an all female jazz band which consists of a group of young, vibrant, diverse professional musicians from the shores of Durban, South-Africa. The love of jazz music weaved these girls together towards to end of 2008 to form this unique musical force. Renowned for their sparkling stage presence, energy and passion, the band has found its groove and created a smooth, watertight brand of contemporary jazz. Thulile Zama and Nomkhosi Mazibuko on vocals are joined by Lindelwe Ngonelo on keyboards and piano and Rebekah Pillay on drums to create the easy breezy jazz-pop that has become their signature sound.
Together these ladies have tremendous experience locally, nationally and internationally. Their performance skills have won them respect and a number of fans wherever they perform. Songs like "All the things you are", "Could it be" and many others performed by these ladies get the crowd off their seats....and not a show goes by that the "vuma"ring doesn't take over.

Their debut album Could It Be got rewarded with the Yamaha Young Talent Award and with a nomination for the South African Music Awards in 2010. In 2013 the ladies of afro-jazz will release their second album, which is a clear matured version of the first one.
