The Voice is Speaking

Heidi Jantz
“Entries on an Unlined Page”
(3 trees)

Joni Mitchell has influenced many singer-songwriters, some of them sound a bit too similar to her, whereas others are more independent. Heidi Jantz is an independent artist, with her own expression in the field of acoustic folk rock. The music has something rare, an honest tune that colors each piece.

“Entries on an Unlined Page” is a good title to this album debut. The production is pure and the sound breathing. Jantz doesn’t worry much about shelter. Her lyrics are pure/clean/naked. It feels like she writes directly from the heart. Several lines are filled with a romantic light, often colored by religious conviction.

The strongest part is the voice, which sounds warm and clear. Sometimes it opens to an essential dialogue. The accompaniment is nice and mostly kind of pure, you mostly hear guitar, cello, and violin.
