BandR&BSoul

Steeped in rhythm-and-blues, jazz, gospel, funk, rock-n-roll:- an old soul for modern times. She bends tradition, drinking from the roots, but concocting a brew both familiar and new. The lyrics are unruly, spiritual, joyful. The piano a brawler, a heart breaker, and a faith healer.

Biography

Steeped in rhythm-and-blues, jazz, gospel, funk and rock-n-roll: an old soul for modern times. She bends tradition, drinking from the roots, but concocting a brew both familiar and new. The lyrics are unruly, spiritual, joyful. The piano a brawler, a heart breaker, and a faith healer.

Heidijo was raised in Hobble Creek, Utah on church spirituals and classical music, but she didnÂ’t stay long. Her heart led her adrift; to study with masters of the craft and to learn the music of the world. From California to New York, to Cuba, and to France, she wandered chasing her muse before settling in Alaska and New Orleans, splitting her time between the two.

In December 2012 she recorded her debut album," Magazine Street" in New Orleans with Louisiana producer/ musician Zachary Wilson (The Universal Chrome, Zachary James, The Midnight Americans). The collection is a musical amalgam of R & B, gospel, rock-n-roll, blues, funk and jazz, featuring renown drummer Keith Hajjar (The New Orleans Bingo Show, Famous Monsters) and wily brass played by Egg Yolk Jubilee. Thorny Little Flowers Music will release several singles throughout 2014, including "Honeytune" in August 2014. The LP "Magazine Street" will be released in late 2014.

Currently Heidijo is performing throughout New Orleans and the Southeastern U.S..
