"Traveling with Heidi"

Traveling with Heidi

author: Russ Gowin
I saw Heidi for the first time on March 25th at Epworth Methodist Church in Atlanta's Little Five-Points district. She was performing with fellow musicians, Vicki Blankenship and Kathy Rainwater. I bought Heidi's "Best of Friends" cd that night before leaving This is a great cd. Heidi takes you on a musical journey. I commute 2 hours a day and this cd travels very well. From the foot stomping rhythm of "Devil Down" to the sweet melody of "Sleep Well Tonight" this cd is a great traveling companion. I would highly recommend this cd. - Russ Gowen

"Sassy, Soulful and Sensuous"

Heidi Pollyea's soulful lyricism and emotional expressiveness are under-girded by tensile precision and technique. Whether she is belting the blues or toying with a blithe and mellow folk-pop number, she never misses a beat. She brings coruscating truthfulness to her songwriting, leavened with playful humor -- "Touch it," in particular, is a masterpiece of mischief.

"Wow! What an Amazing CD..."

Caeri and I are both really floored with your new CD. It is an amazing achievement Heidi! Your vocals were flawless, writing and arrangements were brilliant and getting all of those fabulous musicians to work cohesively (and independently) in little spheres under your direction gives the CD a unique "richness" that very few people ever achieve. The music itself is so listenable- vibrant and multi-textured.

I could go on and on.

You are awesome Heidi!

"Amazing New Talent!"

I know a gal who has just released her first CD and she is unbelievable. She's a little bit rock, a little bit country, a little bit jazzy, and a lot a bit... talented. I know that many of you have various and "sundry" connections, and I'm calling them in! She needs to be discovered. You can see and hear her on www.myspace.com/heidipmusic. Her email address is puppymama@comcast.net. Please "tune in" and listen. She writes her own music, so you must listen to her words. My favorites are: Out On The Avenue, The Longest Mornin' (about her dog that ran away), Red Neck Lover and the absolute best... What a Woman Needs. Have fun and put on your thinking caps.. please. The rest of the world needs to hear her.

P.S. You know that I don't jump all over "just anyone's" stuff... so, take a listen! I know you'll love her!

Bio

I'm a study in dichotomy- a Chicago born gal who migrated to the South, a jazz trained tree hugger, an introspective extrovert. My greatest adventure was giving up a rewarding school teaching job to live in a musician's loft with five guys and my German Shepherd. It's obvious my yin and yang require equal time and attention.

My influences range from soul searching singer/songwriters like Karla Bonoff, James Taylor and Shawn Colvin to soulful artists like Aretha Franklin and Michael McDonald. I think it is the blending of sophisticated and funky gospel/jazz keyboards combined with the more down-home vocals and guitars that defines my particular style.

My story includes songwriting, performing, nature and dogs~not necessarily in that order. I love to create anywhere~ but the recording studio's gotta be one of the best places on earth.

I'm looking forward to a life that includes love and friendship, travel and discovery, but always with lots of music making throughout .
