"Album Review: Hello Hollywood - Late Nights And Lovers"

If slick, catchy pop-rock is your kinda thing, than you'll love Hello Hollywood. The Arizona five-piece have crafted and produced some of the most hook-laden songs you'll hear all summer with their debut EP, 'Late Nights and Lovers'.

'Danger Danger' kicks off things and its everything you'd expect; upbeat and very catchy with strong vocals from Mike Wolf. Whilst 'Celebutant' sees the band leaning more towards their rock side. However this isn't a bad thing, as they keep to their pop roots with subtle electronics and a chorus, that will highly likely get you seeing along after a few listens.

Unsurprisingly 'Summer Sweetness' follows the same structure, even though it is a more slightly laid back track, that is perfect for a summer's evening. Next is 'So Late So Sorry' a steady track that is led by its bass line and blend of melodies, which the band pull off well.

'Kids Undercover' sees the band lyrically taking a retrospective yet positive outlook on life, with the usual tight, upbeat style that the band have definitely have down to a tee.

As expected the band end the EP on a slow note. 'If I Could Be' has all the pop-rock ballad elements; sad emotional lyrics, strings and that standard slow build up, that sees the whole band joining in at the end. Once again I don't mean to sound negative, as the band do it well and they manage to keep you holding on untill the last note.

'Late Nights and Lovers' on the whole shows a band, that knows how to write good 3 minute pop-rock songs. Unfortunaly for Hello Hollywood, there are plenty of others who know to do the same thing. Nevertheless this can not stop them from standing out from the crowd, as they've got the talent and potential. If you're a fan of bands like The Maine and The Cab, you will love Hello Hollywood, they're more catchier with songs that after a few listens, will quickly have you hooked. Definitely one to watch in the coming year.

3.5/5

"Hello Hollywood Late Nights and Lovers/Rear View"

Hello Hollywood
Late Nights and Lovers/Rear View
Hello Hollyood is the latest band out of the deserts of Arizona and they are bringing the heat with them. Their boy next door looks mixed with catchy hooks equals a band that’s sure to turn the heads of fans that love bands such as Honor Society and The Maine.
Their EP Late Nights and Lovers is that kind of rock that can cross over from the Warped Tour crowd to the mainstream with ease much like Boys Like Girls. These six songs have it all; from clever one liners such as “Celebutaunt, celeb you’re not” to ones of reminiscence.
Their newest EP Rear View is a stripped down acoustic gem that offers the raw side of their sound. Their acoustics showcase something a lot of bands lack, actual vocal chops. But don’t think acoustics means only ballads, title track; “Rear View” is that song that starts instant movement in anyone and everyone in earshot. Also the use of pianos gives this band a classy edge over the rest.
The best part about the two is that their latest offers fans three previously released songs done in the acoustic fashion. So fans get to fall in love all over again. The stand out song was “If I Could Be.” Being such a deep song filled with intense emotion, it was great on Late Nights and Lovers, but more heartfelt as an acoustic.
Rear View; Track 5:“Believe in Love” was a delightful surprise. It’s a duet with an angelic voiced female. Their vocals meshed so well with one another as well as with the music that it made it seem as if they were more than just duet partners.
Late Nights and Lovers; Track 1: “Danger Danger” starts of the record with body moving music. Then the party doesn’t stop once the unforgettable verses and choruses kick in. the only danger with this song is that it will get stuck in heads, but no one will be complaining.
Late Nights and Lovers; Track 5: “Kids Undercover” had the best lyric, “just remember how it feels to be a dreamer.” This song proves Hello Hollywood not only inspire good times, by but the mind. This song is bound to be that song that carries fans from frowns to smiles.
