Bio

HJP - The Hello John Project is a songwriting project that began in 2002. I (Ryan) began writing the first album (Hello John Poet) for personal enjoyment and as the years passed and the story progressed into a multi-album concept piece i decided to, initially, start performing it as a two pc acoustic set. In searching for a second guitarist i brought Glenn on board to help with practices. Shortly after, he joined as a full time member and we brought in Devin to fill in the rhythm section. After much searching we found Julian who was the last real piece to the puzzle. We have been playing together Since September 2010 and look forward to bringing the story of John Poet to the World. We play a very original style of Blues Rock with some folk, progressive, and psychedelic influences but it is our focus on the story, leveraging the diversity of the whole group, and creating a seamless conceptual series of albums that sets us apart from everyone else.

Ryan - Born in Halifax, I have been playing guitar for 16 years, singing for almost 20 years, and writing for the last 8 years. Bought my first guitar from a relative and former member of April Wine when I was 12 and never looked back. Started writing the Hello John Project in 2002 after the death of my best friend and put the band together in 2010.
Influences - Blind Melon, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Elton John, The Guess Who

Devin - Born in Moncton, I moved to Halifax in 1989. My first guitar was a 12 string acoustic with 6 strings cut off that I tried to teach myself to play until I was given a decent 6 string electric and started taking lessons when I was 15. After years of watching my brother play bass (and using his bass when he wasn't looking) I decided to buy my own in 2005 and have been playing bass, off and on, ever since.
Influences - Bootsy Collins, Les Claypool, Green Day, Soviet Women

Julian - I was born in Weymouth , England in 1963 . Began playing guitar aged 13 . First guitar was acoustic , had 4 strings and cost 2 pounds. Started playing in a punk band around 1977 and then left to join Arthur Copley and the wild pigs . Crap name, crap band . Did some gigging and recording but left soon after to join other crap bands . Played in a few pubs and village halls until early 80's then gave up playing live . Did some recording with (very) amateur artists but never pushed on with anything . Got married in 1995 and had 2 kids within 2 years and basically gave up music until a few years ago . Emigrated to Canada in February 2008 and started looking for like minded individuals to play with . Met Ryan LaPierre and his band in the summer of 2010 .
Influences - Hendrix , Tony Iommi , Paul Kossoff . Randy Bachman among others .
