"The Townhouse Tavern"

Hello Marx... catch them now... we all can't wait to hear a full CD from this band this year. Hello Marx is making post-punk/artrock for the new millenium... it's good and it is as much 2008 indie rock a la controller.controller or Arcade Fire as it is Velvet Underground (minus the Heroin). - paul lowenberg

"Big City Business Review"

Hello Marx
Big City Business
4 out of 5 stars

Big City Business is an admirable
creative album coming from a city
and scene dominated by hardcore,
screamo and metal. Hello Marx's
original style makes them worthy of
the attention they received prior to
the release of this album and surely
will receive following its release. It is
hard to pin down their sound. At times
coming off like Modest Mouse meets
Hellogoodbye (Wrong Side of the
Badge) and other times like Attack In
Black meets Brazil (Name it and They
will come). Although a few rare times
they may drop the ball on the rhythm
they always quickly recover themselves
and restore the music that will surely
have the crowd signing and dancing.
BCB is made for crowd participation in
songs like "Untitled" with clapping hands
and vocals throughout the entire album
that stick with you even after one listen.

Bio

Now living in Montreal, this four-piece group just released their debut CD, Big City Business at L'escogriffe. After jamming in their high school's music class and in their parents' garages since 2007, Hello Marx began establishing themselves in Sudbury's already solid all-ages music scene; opening for such bands as Attack in Black, The Reason, and Lifestory:Monlogue. These shows did not go unnoticed, as they soon began playing shows at Sudbury's renowned Townhouse Tavern; opening for such acts as Montreal's Torngat and Vancouver's Ladyhawk. In early 2008 they were one of Northern Lights Festival Boreal’s Meltdown winners, earning them a spot at the Festival, held in July. Always looking for challenges, Hello Marx recently wrote theme music for the television series Analog, airing on TFO.

Hello Marx recently played a sold out show in Sudbury playing with Attack in Black. They are also touring Québec and Montréal in the summer. Stay posted by checking the band’s myspace for dates!
