Bio

Hemenway Street runs through Boston’s Back Bay section which is home of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Peter Kelly, Hemenway’s guitarist, lead vocalist, and main songwriter, graduated Berklee with a degree in guitar performance before moving to New York and forming the band. Keyboardist, Perry Carbone, is also a Berklee alum with a degree in Music Production and Engineering. The rhythm section is comprised of drummer Chris Hermanns, a Five Towns College graduate with a degree in Music Performance, and bassist Nick Sullivan.

Hemenway’s influences include Billy Joel, The Police, John Mayer, the Dave Matthews Band, Rush, Jeff Buckley, King's X, Paul Simon and U2. Their most recent recording effort was an untitled 4 song demo completed in early 2007. Hemenway worked with producer Hanan Rubenstein who's credist include John Legend, Leela James, and Alicia Keys. The demo caught the ears of (now manager) Ari Goldstein and his partner Mike Dean of New York City PR company Goldstein Communications. Goldstein and Dean introduced Hemenway's music to entertainment industry elite including legendary promoter Sid Bernstein (best known as the man who brought the Beatles to America). Hemenway's previous two CD's, Where I Left U Last (produced by Mike Sapone who is known for his work with Taking Back Sunday and Brand New) and Letters to Mercury (produced by Mike Jackson who worked on Christina Aguilera’s debut CD), received some regional airplay. New York’s Q104.3 FM chose Hemenway’s song “Calling Me” as one of the best new songs of 2004 on their show “Out of the Box.” Hemenway has performed in venues all over the Northeast including the Hard Rock Café NYC with the cast of Jack Black’s film School of Rock, Princeton University with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's the Lovin’ Spoonful, and at the BC Open Golf Tournament in Endicott, NY.

Currently, Hemenway is writing and recording material for their next CD. They also perform with the grammy-nominated artist Shannon who is best known for her hit songs “Let the Music Play” and “Give Me Tonight.” In addition to performing, writing, and recording, a Hemenway documentary directed by Constance Carbone was included as part of the 2006 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
