The best kept secret in music

"Yesterday i was blinded by my own flying hair as i listened to the exuberant"happy" on Hemingway's churning, guitar driven debut. this ep induced me into a frenzied, whiplash-inducing air guitar dance. "

"Fans of WEEZER,INCUBUS & THURSDAY will slurp this up like a big-gulp on a hot summer day" - Dina Pearlman

Feeling a bit camera shy

Hemingway combines the dark, stoner-rock riffage of Queens of the Stone Age with the indie-rock minimalism of the White Stripes. All emblazoned with a truly signature melodic vocal style spooned out by the capable hands of singer/guitarist Steevin Hamilton. Josef Peltier's keyboards are at the same time retro-pop ala All American Rejects/Rooney & reminiscent of emo-licious bands like Motion City Soundtrack/Lost Prophets. But wait,Josef is ALSO the bassist AND backup vocalist..bounding around the stage with the energy of 3 men. Roll all that up with Dean Sharp's monster truck crush of a drum sound, and you've got a live show not to be missed!" We actually started in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1999. We were session musicians and our name wasn't Hemingway then, but as we gradually stopped taking gigs for other people, and really started focusing on what we had to say musically, our sound progressed" says Hamilton. They adopted a new identity sonically, and so chose a new name. Hemingway relocated to the beautiful mountains of New Paltz, NY in the summer of 2003 and sadly, lost the drummer, one of the founding members in the move. "We made our first EP (the Tarantula Downpour) from March to August 2003. We produced it ourselves with our friend Simon Austin (FRENTE) who helped us mix it"says Peltier. Want high energy live shows? Crave hook-laden songs with sing-along choruses? Need an excuse to jump around and break stuff? You'll need to get some Hemingway, Upstate Dark Pop in you immediately!
