(If you wish to get to the bands PRESENT DAY status then scroll down a ways to avoid their history)

The origins of Hemingway's Lion can be traced back to 2006 when the bands Guitarist/Vocalist/Songwriter, Evan Bartels, started playing and writing songs on his First Act acoustic and Electric guitars. He teamed up with childhood friend and fellow guitar player, Jordan Brakhage, and they began to compose simple songs.

Several months later in late 2006 Logan Bartels, Evan's older brother, teamed up up with the duo offering his (at the time) insufficient bass playing skills. They formed Armageddon at Midnight, which was short of drummer for some time.

Jake Brandt became the band's drummer in late 2007 and offered his more experienced musical opinion to aid in the bands development. First was a name change to Remember Yesterday, second was composition. They began to come together as a unique four piece band and their ability to compose music gradually became more fine-tuned.

They played shows into late spring of 2008, up until their drummer enlisted into the Army and was sent out. Hope came when Jeff Taylor joined the band. He offered unbelievable skill and the band once again began to perform.

In late 2008 Jordan Brakhage left the band to pursue an educational career in Graphic Design. Along came Kalib Faltys who signed on as the bands new lead guitarist.

Later that year Remember Yesterday once again changed their name to Burlington Avenue, and into 2009 they continued to song write. In August 2009 Jeff left the band and Kalib took over as drummer.

The name Hemingway's Lion came about when band members saw a picture with Ernest Hemingway with his prized African Lion that he killed on a Safari. They decided to make this their final name change and are now christened Hemingway's Lion.

Today the band consists of:

Evan Bartels' musical ability rivals that of history's finest musicians. At only 17, Evan has written over 30 complete original songs consisting of rhythmic guitar riffs and compelling lyrics. Listen hard if you get the chance and experience the mind boggling complexity/maturity of the lyrics.

Logan Bartels, age 19 and the only one out of high school in the band, offers his bass skills to the group. His abilities have blossomed over the past five years, and his natural vocal harmony with his brother Evan adds an elegance to their songs.

Kalib Faltys, a guitarist at heart, is a naturally talented drummer. Kalib adds non-generic drum beats to liven the bands overall sound and create an artistic element to the complete composition. This can also be said when he switches positions with Evan and plays guitar.

We hope you enjoy our music.. Thank you

"Call Me Back" was recorded in a basement of Garage Band. The Drums were recorded after the guitar due to conflicts, so the timing is slightly off because of having to match to guitar. Please bear with us. We hope you like it none the less.
