The band was formed in its earliest stages with Dave and Dan Bryson, brothers who would often just jam on songs that Dave had written. As time went on, Dave's song book became bigger and bigger. That song book became about 150 songs before anything was really pursued.
Fast forward to fall of 2003, when lead guitarist Evan decided to check out the open mic that Dave was hosting. After the open mic was over, Dave walked outside and heard this young guy imatating guitar legend Yngwie Malmsteen, and coming extremely close to sounding like him. Unbenounced to him, this young guy who was belting out Yngwie Malmsteen and John Petrucci solos turned out to be Evan. Offers were made, dates were set for the two brothers and Evan to jam at the coffee house where the open mic was held.
