Bio
When Henri emerges in the mid-1990s, among the new African generation who defied tradition and stereotypes, not many gave him much of a chance.
A first album, an acoustic guitar, when everyone was talking about techno music to save Africa...
Offbeat artist?
We so love the velvety voice of this exiled Cameroonian, freshness, lightness of his music, and his swing... A songwriter of rare finesse which rehabilitates with talent the most ancestral cultures, in an African folk tradition.
From his encounters and travels, Henri enriched himself of new sensibilities and developed with modesty social topics that were dear to his heart, such as tolerance, friendship, or even the cause of children “anonymous childbirth”.
Some important dates:
1995- "WA"
1997 - The very noticed "C’EST LA VIE" under licence in the USA, this album is sold to nearly 10,000 copies in three months on the West Coast.
2000 - “N’OUBLIE JAMAIS” directed by bassist Etienne Mbappe, with some prestigious guests: MANU DIBANGO, MARIO CANONGE, MOKTAR SAMBA...
2005 - "BISO NA WA”
2010 - "AFRICA" - Anthology of Henri Dikongué
2016 " Diaspora " Jazz out Production
Since the release of his first album, Henri Dikongué strolled the world with his guitar between New York, Rio de Janeiro, London, Paris, Strasbourg, Marseille, Lille, Angoulême, and made many appearances in clubs, festivals and humanitarian events.
