Bio for Henry Garrison
November, 2014

Because our Modern Christian songs were mixed in with our Country/Pop songs, we have just set up a new Reverbnation site specifically for the Modern Christian music and called it Brain Child Modern
Christian Music. Since this is a start over site, we would appreciate our visiting and liking this site, if you are so inclined.

In the late ‘60’s, Henry played rhythm guitar and sang backup for three years in The Salt and Pepper a local Greenville, South Carolina Band. Having had a lifelong love for poetry, hia work was published yearly while attenting then graduating with honors in English at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.
After college, he enjoyed a successful Commercial and Residential Real Estate career in the Greenville, SC area, having as many as 50 agents and 10 employees. While musical ventures were off the table during these years, his passion for music continued to grow as did his study of the history of Rock and Roll and the Blues. His early influences were the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys, among many others. HIs recent influences include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns and a host of other current artists.
However, in 2005, his world changed – a life threatening brain trauma required a 3 year recovery time to relearn writing and speaking skills. During those three years, music, lyrics and original melodies flooded his mind, leading him to reconsider his real estate career and he relearned the guitar. Local musicians helped Henry turn some of his melodies into songs and he began writing full time. He also learned bass guitar, keyboards and developed a good working knowledge of Garage Band so that he could begin to represent his music to others.
In 2009, things changed again -- He travelled to Nashville to participate in a seminar sponsored by the Nashville Association of Song Writers International. There he found that his lack of professional writing skills and education had yielded a large catalog of songs that needed lots of work. In the last 4 years , he has been to Nashville numerous times and never missed a major educational event sponsored by NSAI. It was also here that he gained feedback through critiques with NSAI staff, a dozen #1 song writers and a great song coach.
After surviving two bouts with cancer and a brain trauma, he has a natural inclination towards Christian musiic. His love of telling stories has found its outlet in the modern country genre and he also writes pop songs occasionally.
Regrets about starting a new career at age 57 ? None at all. He says “there is a season for everything and this is mine for music”. He jokes about being so happy in his new “2nd childhood”.
His focus group says they would buy his music; saying it’s better than a lots of what is currently being played on radio stations today and he has had a #1 song writer said during a recent critique of a country song that he wished he had written it. That was a good day. Grammy winner Katherine Dines has highly endorsed his songs and abilities.
