Bio

Henry Bliss is now playing with the “Sidewalkers” (Olivier Van Steirtegem: guitars, piano; Cédric De Meersman: bass, backing vocals; Mounir Kadjaj: drums, backing vocals; … Crucial information concerning these guys: The Sidewalkers started to play music together approximately in 1998. At the time Cedric was a pipe seller in Moldavia and was into the import of custom hand made steering wheels for trucks. He met Mounir and Olivier during a border control in south Kerala. Mounir and Olivier were escaping from Chechnya and looking for new challenging opportunities. Music came as a side choice since the first wanted to launch a sugar business in north Ecuador. They finally settled in Brussels and became the "Sidewalkers"… Why Bliss? “To be honest, I wanted a name that would perfectly complement my first name (Henry) and easy to pronounce in French and English. This last name must also express an emotional affinity with my inner self, with my songs and compositions. I chose for the antithesis. My songs express mostly bad feelings, escape or misunderstanding. On the other hand, “bliss” means beatitude, serenity or happiness. This duality represents my vision of the basic human condition: … Because this is what I am, and probably what we all are: two personalities in one body, the one we have to be and the one we really are! Basically, the last one is in most cases the one we have to avoid to be, considering our genetic map, our education, our influences, “this” capitalistic environment, our bad and good experiences, our “way of life”, and above all, considering our small little world. Reduced to be what we are not, by Using “Bliss”, I’m appropriating the serenity … I’m appropriating my longing for calm as expressed in the bliss-concept! “
