Henry & X4

Henry Robinson is a self taught multi-instumentalist who creates multilayerd songs from scratch live. Rooted in improvisation, his music is free, passionatley expressive, and captivating. With help from a looping pedal, which he credits as an equal contributor to the music with the name X4, he combines simple riffs, chords, beats, melodies, harmonies, and auxilary effects to weave intricate songs and sound scapes for the happy members of the audience. Sometimes starting with a simple relaxing ambient riff series, a song may develop into a solid rock song with wailing guitar, an eccentric electronica beat, or a deep funk or reggae groove. In the past few years he has performed all over the state of wisconsin and was featured at last year’s Feelgood Festival. He brings a distinctly unique sound by incorperating everyday objects into loops sometime creating an entire beat out of things like the sounds of ripping paper, snapple cap pops, beer bottle bings, and a fischer price xylophone. Other times he will just play acustic guitar and sing songs with surreal and philosophical lyrics. Henry & X4’s thrifty, rythmicaly intricate, and groove heavy sound is a distinctly unique product of creativity.
Sound like a combination of Phish, Dr. Dre, Philip Glass, NIN, Brian Eno, Medeski Martin and Wood, Frank Zappa, Flight of the Conchords, Cougar, OutKast, Pink Floyd, Girltalk, Bucket Head, Primus, P-Funk, James Brown, and Paul Simon.
Henry & X4 has sat in with noteable midwestern bands such as Chinese Fingertrap, Unity the Band, Bears acustic honey, Sean Wolf, and Clinton Miller.
