"HB in the Huff Post May 2015"

Herbert Bail Orchestra is a fusion of past and present, frontier and adventure, psyche and soul. Full sounds and powerful live performances pull listeners into their timeless dimension. - HUFF POST

"OV Weekly Exclusive"

It might seem odd that an Americana folk tribe like Herbert Bail Orchestra owes the birth of their latest single to a festival known for new-agey, electronic music. But it wasn't until their first appearance at Lightning in a Bottle a few years ago when the band says the song "You Are Beautiful" really came to life. They were playing dead last on the bill at of the lounge stages, joining in a sweaty, 20-minute jam session that didn't stop until around 3:30 a.m. - OC Weekly

"LA Weekly - Best Concerts to see in LA"

The Herbert Bail Orchestra's lead singer and guitarist Anthony Frattolillo credits his mentor, Juan, a janitor and apparent musical genius from Chile, for his ax-playing skills, and for instilling the need to put true life into his songs' expression. Juan taught the young Frattolillo that his music ought to tell stories that come straight from the heart, and that if he's gonna play it all, he's gotta be really feeling it. Evidenced by his band's recent album The Future's in the Past, Frattolillo learned his lessons well, as he and accordion player/trombonist Andrew Katz deliver their wryly humorous narrative soundscapes with fervid glee and, better yet, painterly detail, aided by an ensemble of violin, trumpet, trombone, banjo, keys, bass and drums. "Herbert Bail feature&review on BUZZBANDS.LA"

To hear the music of band that bears his name, it’s easy to imagine the mythological character Herbert Bail trudging down some dusty backroad, holes in his shoes and cactus needles in his pants, toting a wooden handcart bulging with a guitar, accordion, horns, viola, banjo and assorted tools of the trade. All Mr. Bail needs, it would seem, is a few friends and a jug of something tasty, and one heck of a party would break out. And so it is with the Herbert Bail Orchestra, the sometimes-nine-strong collective fronted by singer-guitarist Anthony Frattolillo. Their debut album “The Future’s in the Past,” released last year on the day the world was supposed to end, is a sprawling collection of gypsy folk that’s rich in storytelling and carving out myths of its own. Frattolillo is joined on album by Andrew Katz, Colin Warling, Jack Dawson, Ryan McClain, Michael Villers, Steve Mitchell and Danny T. Levin — together, they recall a even-more-homespun version of Gogol Bordello. - BuzzBands.LA
