Heroes Rust

BandRockPunk

Heroes Rust is a fast, dark, melodic proggy-punk/post-hardcore outfit from the southern suburbs of Chicago, IL. Our songwriting process, both in terms of lyrics and music, undergo a thorough aesthetic evaluation - and are never used as "filler". Hope you enjoy!

Biography

Heroes Rust plays a unique blend of punk and hardcore - injected with technical elements influenced by contemporaries like A Wilhelm Scream, Thrice and Hot Water Music. "We didn't start the band with any particular genre in mind; between the four of us, interests range from classical to 60's folk to death metal. We just got together to write songs that we thought rocked pretty hard." Heroes Rust was formed in the summer of 2005 by guitarists Kevin Carlson and Ryan Karabaic, who were eager to start a new project after the demise of their former group. Devan Beimler - who lived down the street from the two, was a long-time friend, and was also looking to start a new band quickly joined them. "We knew one thing for sure - we wanted to write good songs. Most bands in our area and time were writing simple, recycled hooks and singing about how cute they thought girls were. Kids went to shows to smoke outside, see their friends' band, and leave. We wanted show-going and local music in general to be fun and connected again. Furthermore, we wanted to put meaning behind what we wrote; to be able write insightful, personal stories as well as songs promoting social awareness and change." The band's name came from an observation made by its members that, as one grows out of a youthful state, they begin to experience and accept the ugly realities of the world.

After 2 and a half years of songwriting, and a recent change in the line-up, Heroes Rust has finally put out an official 5 track EP entitled "March of the Fallen". The EP was recorded at the Bomb Shelter studio, and produced by owner/operator Dan Precision (88 Fingers Louie, Rise Against, Zero to Sixty). They are currently looking to book as many shows as possible, and spread the good word to any and all music listeners who wish to join them in their efforts to combat the all-too-common apathetic state of mind.

Lyrics

Dead Stares

Written By: Carlson

Do these words have meaning?
To the walls that we stare.
Do these words have meaning?
To the graves that we'll share.
Or are they just markings by another scribe?

We are all machines, marching in time.
We are all machines, waiting to die.
We can't always sit on our thrones.

Is this all entertainment?
To the ghosts with dead stares.
Is this all unknown?
Is there a reason to care?
We'll leave a mark and stab at their hearts.

We are all machines, marching in time.
We are all machines, with bitter eyes.
Do you feel like you're losing your pride?

I will never become another ghost,
I will bleed out the wounds just to feel alive.
I will never become another ghost.

We will conquer the land of the dead.

The Cure for the Curious

Written By: Carlson

Am I content with the lies that I feed to myself?
Is happiness dead? (No.)
We're not the same today.
We've got innocent eyes peaking through from the cracks.
Would you rather run, or be a witness of death?
We know we're not the same.
We live in terror.

Look in the room, determine the damn use.
It's something I don't want to forget.
Look to the sky, determine just why we are all still standing here;
As the only audience in fear.

I'm waiting for an apology or the answer of "why me today?"
The nails are dug too deep in the memory I will keep.
I'm waiting for a punishment for those who do not live the same.
It will be over soon.

What is this supposed to cure?
The only face I see in the mirror.
I'm waiting for a difference,
I'm waiting for a different kind of white.
Look at all the abandoned, and tell me why they were sentenced
to this one damned seat in the waiting room.

Keep your eyes on the dead.
Are you curious now?
Keep your eyes on the dead.
Are you ready to run?

I've got the cure for the curious,
I'll show you death for the dead.Am I content with the lies that I feed to myself?
Is happiness dead? (No.)
We're not the same today.
We've got innocent eyes peaking through from the cracks.
Would you rather run, or be a witness of death?
We know we're not the same.
We live in terror.

Look in the room, determine the damn use.
It's something I don't want to forget.
Look to the sky, determine just why we are all still standing here;
As the only audience in fear.

I'm waiting for an apology or the answer of "why me today?"
The nails are dug too deep in the memory I will keep.
I'm waiting for a punishment for those who do not live the same.

Look at all the abandoned, and tell me why they were sentenced
to this one damned seat in the waiting room.

Keep your eyes on the dead.
Are you curious now?
Keep your eyes on the dead.
Are you ready to run?

I've got the cure for the curious,
I'll show you death for the dead.
