Biography

An acoustic guitar.
A voice.
A message.

A singer/songwriter with a simple approach: if you’re there to listen, he’s there to play.

Life is not an easy process. It can drag you down deeper than you ever thought you’d go. This world can be a lonely and confusing place.
On the flip side, every now and then, life has it's funny ways of gently reminding you of its preciousness. It’s this ebb and flow of dark and light moments that keep this whole thing interesting.

Hethro’s songs dive into this pool of highs and lows, exploring both ends; the cruelty of failure, the fragility of rebirth, the cold doors of death and the sun drenched comfort of new found love. He attempts to put into words some things that we all feel, but can’t always grasp; those tiny moments that splash up into our faces that he calls ‘fits of clarity’. It’s these moments that keep us going, that give us glimpses into the big picture. Moments of true understanding; too brief to capture, but long enough to help keep us on the right track.

A Brief history:

Hethro has lived in and been a part of the Vancouver music scene for the last 9 years.

His early projects ‘Gade’ and ‘Pan’ proved to be cutting edge and became trendsetters in the local scene.

When SunLikeStar formed in 1997 Hethro truly found his home as vocalist and songwriter with band mates David and Greg Bradley, the three founding members of the band.

SunLikeStar put out their debut album ‘Inverse’ on their own label in 2001.

Two singles and supporting videos were released and became extremely important in establishing a face for the band.

SunLikeStar is currently working on a new record. The writing sessions for that record have been the birthplace of most of the Hethro material.

car crash

I didn’t say I love you when I had the chance
Now I lie here bleeding, I’m in an awful mess
I know it’s not the right time to become a religious man
But I’ve got that nasty feeling that it’s my only chance

There is no pain, no sign of life
I took in vain my only life
I can’t explain where the time went
Now I’m breathing my final breath

I fell awake while sleeping, forgot to remember how
I gave my best at taking, had everything but more
The pavement’s getting cold now
You’re the best thing in my life
I really should have told you, but I didn’t have the time

There is no pain, no sign of life
I took in vain my only life
I can’t explain where the time went
Now I’m breathing my final breath

I didn’t say I love you when I had the chance
Now I lie here bleeding, I’m in an awful mess
I know it’s not the right time to become a religious man
But I’ve got that nasty feeling that it’s my only chance

There is no pain, no sign of life
I took in vain my only life
I can’t explain where the time went
Now I’m breathing my final breath

There goes my last breath

water in your hands

Written By: hethro

Water in your hands
The ground on which you stand
A rolling rusted cage
Can you spare a little change?

What’s it worth?
What’s it worth?

Today I saw the sun rise
I watched a beetle scramble for her life
I closed my eyes and I felt you there
It struck me I’m the richest fool alive

Lines in the sand
Charts of black and red
Empty shaking hands
It hangs around your neck

What’s it worth?
What’s it worth?

Today I saw the sun go down
I watched a crow protect it’s only young
I closed my eyes and I felt you there
It struck me I’m the richest fool alive

Everything I thought I ever had was nothing at all

Water in your hands, water in your hands
Water in your hands, water in your hands

Today I saw the sun rise
I watched a beetle scramble for her life
I closed my eyes and I felt you there
It struck me I’m the richest fool alive
Today I saw the sun go down
I watched a crow protect it’s only young
I closed my eyes and I felt you there
It struck me I’m the richest fool alive

inside it's raining

Written By: hethro

I’m scared to look down
I’ve never been so high
And I can’t look up with a closing mind

I’m scared to go out
Because I’m so far in
And I can’t let go of where I’ve never been

Inside it’s raining, it never let’s up
I know I’m crazy, crazy enough
And I know that I will find a way to make it all go away, it’s so easy
I’ll make it all go away

I’m scared to be me
Because I look like you
It’s hard to be somebody you never knew

I’m scared to be touched
I don’t like the feel
It’s way too close, it’s way too real

Inside it’s raining, it never let’s up
I know I’m crazy, crazy enough
And I know that I will find a way to make it all go away, it’s so easy
I’ll make it all go away

I found my only out, so just forget about talking me down
I’ll put the fire out, stop this burning once and for all
A means to an end
An end without meaning

Inside it’s raining, it never let’s up
I know I’m crazy, crazy enough
And I know that I will find a way to make it all go away, it’s so easy
I’ll make it all go away
