"'A Brilliant Pianist..'"

"Hey Rim, a brilliant pianist, whom I've personally heard and spoken with in my home with my wife in New York City. She has a good concept of what the music is all about, and the ability to perform it."

- Benny Golson, legendary jazz compposer, saxophonist, arranger
- CD Baby

"Korean Jazz Pianist At Zeitgeist..."

"The new CD quickly tables any discussion that Jeon is in any way behind her peers. In fact, [it] reveals a player with a sure touch and a penchant for stepping beyond early mainstream influences."

- Bob Young - Boston Sunday Herald
- Boston Herald

"Hey Rim Jeon Rocks ..."

"Many excellent musicians have the ability to bore the listener to tears with complicated song structures, odd time signatures, and musical meandering. But not Hey Rim and friends - the songs are memorable and I even found them lingering in my head after the CD ended. Great work, looking forward to another disc sometime soon!"

-Neil P. Howlett / Faster Than Light Magazine. - Faster Than Light Magazine

"Complete Command of The Piano..."

"Hey Rim, a very complete command of the piano, an intelligent sense of performing, and a broad view of music, I know she has a fantastic future as a musician in front of her."

-Michael Cain, pianist - Me'Shell Ndegé Ocello, Jack DeJohnette - Tripod

Hey Rim Jeon, a 2001 graduate of the internationally acclaimed Berklee College of Music, came to the United States from her native Korea having already been recgonized as an accomplished classical pianist and winner of numerous competitions. While a student at Berklee she won the piano department's prestigious "Piano Chair" award for jazz performance-March 10, 2000. In May 2004 she received her Master's degree in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory.

Hey Rim released her first self-titled CD - Hey Rim Jeon & Friends on the Take Note Music (TNM) lable. Her original Trio provides the backdrop for this 12-song compilation of originals and jazz standards, from Dizzy Gillespie to Herbie Hancock. Having studied with piano greats Ran Blake, JoAnne Brackeen, Michael Cain, Lazlo Gardony and Ray Santisi she exemplifies the benefits that come from a well rounded exposure to a diverse group of top jazz stylists.

Hey Rim, a regularly featured attraction at the Rue B Jazz Club in New York City, had previously been featured regularly, with her band, at Maison Robert's Restaurant and Jazz Cafe in Boston along with stints at the Zeitgeist Gallery and Western Front in Cambridge USA. These included performances with George Garzone, John Lockwood, Gabrielle Goodman, Lucques Curtis, Phillip Ingram, Bob Kaufman, J.Curtis Warner Jr, Lance Van Lenten, Joel Gonzales and Adrian Ross to name a few. She has also performed in some of Seoul's top jazz venues, including the main stage of the inaugural Jarasum International Jazz Festival 2004, where she was billed alongside such luminaries as Dennis Chambers, Chris Minh Doky and Hiram Bullock. Add to this the numerous private, corporate, and concert performances it is easy to see why she is so highly regarded by her audiences and peers. As a solo pianist, Ms. Jeon has contributed to the nuances of many an up scale gathering; she has been the pianist of choice for events hosted by the president of Brown University for a number of years. An educator as well as a performer, Hey Rim shines equally as well in the classroom, teaching on the faculties of Berklee's popular City Music program for urban youth, the Five Week Performance Program, the Boston Arts Academy High School for Visual and Performing Arts and the Roland Hayes School of Music. She has appeared as a guest clinician at New England Conservatory, Boston, USA and Seoul Jazz Academy, Korea.
