Bio

Hezery makes music created for the generation who grew up listening to Guns ‘n Roses, Metallica, Ozzy, Pantera, anything hea...vy or metal or both. There is no posturing here, just stripped down, charging, honest rock and roll. Joe Rhatigan, a prolific and ever evolving lyricist, names the heavies of grunge rock as influences. His voice pairs perfectly with guitarist Noah Eifert’s natural gift for anything with strings, as well his stylistic approach that is influenced by Scott Ian, Slash, and Zakk Wylde, with a heavy dose of Pantera/Damageplan’s “Dimebag” Darrell Abbot, Jimi Hendrix, and the driving, intricate rhythms of Motown’s bassists. The band’s single “Signs”, available for your listening pleasure on YouTube, is their first since reuniting in 2013.

Hezery began as Octane, a pairing between Rhatigan and Eifert of that fulfilled nearly every teenage musician’s dream: they played their school gymnasium, at an art club dance. They then embarked on a long, strange trip that has endured for nearly fifteen years.

Following graduation, Eifert moved back to his native Miami, OK to attend college, where he befriended drummer Bobby Brooks, who was familiar with Octane’s presence on the local rock scene. The two had become acquainted years before through their fathers, both veterans of the music business. Eifert and Brooks both cite their fathers’ influence on their musical tastes, development, knowledge, and career. Kevin Eifert, a guitarist and songwriter like his son, has played music with anyone who is or was anyone in the four state area, including Bobby’s father, the late Ron Brooks. Brooks was a drummer, as well as a friend and bandmate of the guitarist Steve Gaines. (Gaines, who grew up in Miami, was in a band called Crawdad with Brooks; simultaneously he was touring with a band called Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gaines was killed when Skynyrd’s private plane crashed in 1977.)

The band recruited bassist Tim Lewis and, and set about whipping up a rabidly loyal fan base with loud, energetic live shows. By then known as Hezery, (which may or may not be the name of a childhood dog, no one is really certain), the four made appearances in local press, radio, and played countless shows. In 2005 the band went on hiatus, with Brooks, Eifert, and Rhatigan settling into other acts. It took eight years for Hezery to reunite. It was worth it. Recently, Hezery has shared the stage with national acts such as Lance Lopez, Kentucky Headhunters, Eve to Adam, Devour the Day, and more.

Look for Hezery playing live in your area, where the crowds are rabid and the music is loud!
