Bio

Hidden Sixes embodies the true grit that one would expect from a respectable heavy band.  However, there are no arpeggiated guitar solos, no irregular time changes, and no blast beats.  The breakdowns in their songs are more of the classic sense than the “hardcore” ones of recent years. How does this band manage to bring the thunder, despite the absence of these key features of modern heavy music?   Listen and hear it for yourself.  Both Guitarists, Joseph Curtis and Gary Alton England, are well versed in Metal of all kinds, of all ages.  The bassist, Mike Carr brings an engineering degree from Berklee to the table along with a very mindful understanding of what is and what isn’t going to cut it to make a heavy song respectable.  Burn, the drummer with the consummately enigmatic singular nickname that you can’t help but go along with, came up through the NYC & Jersey hardcore scene, playing on a number of heavy albums.

That’s impressive, but just wait, the vocalist for this band is none other than Nathan Ells, ex-vocalist of the highly influential modern shred pioneers, The Human Abstract, a band based out of Los Angeles that toured to every city in the continental US, every Canadian Province, and 20+ European countries and despite emerging well into the stream-friendly internet age where music is basically free for all, sold a whopping 60,000+ albums on Van Nuys based indie label Hopeless Records.

With all due respect to THA, Hidden Sixes is, however, the furthest thing from Shreddy Math Core screamo.

Infectious riffs and polyrhythmic grooves set the vibe for inarguably very dark music that also somehow empowers the listener.

Nathan Ells powers out staggeringly endless gritty metal wails and powerful thick toned melodies that you will find very difficult to get out of your head.

Fans of Deftones, Pantera, Mastodon and Trivium are sure to love this band.

But enough talk.  Listen for yourself.
