Bio

Þ What do Law enforcement, and Classic Rock and Roll have in common? Just ask Hidden Agenda’s front man, Sgt. Darin Larner, of the Lansing Police Department. “As a Cop, we always view things from the inside out.” “As performers, we’re seeing things from the outside in.” What happens on stage during a Hidden Agenda performance is the result of 20 yrs of doing both. “We find that the music has given us that avenue of escape, and an opportunity to separate the good, from the bad”. When Hidden Agenda is in the house, it’s all good! And they are locked and loaded and ready to get the party started!

ÞHidden Agenda’s founding fathers, Darin Larner (Lead Vocals), Joe Denslow (Harmonica, Keyboards) and “Loose” Louie Brown (Lead guitar) started molding the sounds of Hidden Agenda in the late 1980’s. With acoustic backgrounds, and blues influences, the trio built a small recording studio in the country, and began to pursue their passion, Music! Along with some fresh ideas and a lot of cold brews, they spent the early years writing and recording songs, as well as performing in venues around mid-Michigan. The emphasis for the band has always been on building friendships through their love of music. In early 2000 the “Hidden Agenda” sound solidified, and formally unveiled, with the addition of Drummer Bernie Hartley and Bass guitar player Keith Coulter.

ÞWith two earlier studio releases (The Beginning) a compilation of cover tunes with an acoustic edge, and (Believe In America) a 15 song CD of original music, Hidden Agenda has decided once again to head back into the recording studio, to begin work (and they use that term loosely!) on their third project. The new CD titled Let the Games Beginã is targeted for release in the spring of 2007. According to the band, this CD is staged to showcase the sturdy rock side of Hidden Agenda’s music. The title cut, and a second track, The Door to Your Lifeã have already received airtime and promotion from Lansing’s Classic Rock Radio Station, 94.9 WMMQ.

ÞDescribed as “A Fun, Energetic, Classic rock band” Hidden Agenda credits several artists for helping them define their sound over the years. Their musical influences include; The Beatles, Bad Company, Tom Petty, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, STYX, REO Speedwagon & Stevie Ray Vaughan, to name a few. One of the best things about Hidden Agenda is that their song list is always evolving. They continue to bring new material to each show, whether it’s a great cover tune or a new original song, written by the band.

ÞHidden Agenda can be found in all of the major clubs around mid-Michigan. In addition, the band is always booking dates for private parties, weddings or corporate events. Each summer, the band also tours the Festival circuit in and around the state of Michigan. This past summer Hidden Agenda was privileged to share the stage with the legendary Bill Haley’s Comets in Mackinaw City, Mi. The Band also takes great pride in utilizing their abilities to help others in need through charitable concerts and events. ###
