The High Rise Diaries have a purpose. They are FOR something. I listen to too many bands these days and I’m left thinking: ‘Hmm… alright I suppose, but what’s the point?’ The High Rise Diaries give you the impression that they need to exist; exist so they can propel you into their world which is as taut as a mini-skirt over the backside of a Bigg Market lass. There’s a nagging insistency to their songs which manage to combine a sense of brooding with a sense of release in a manner which calls to mind Suede, although they don’t have that same kind of languidness. This is more urgent stuff.

The flyer for the new High Rise Diaries gig has a quote on it stating: “The High Rise Diaries have a purpose. They are FOR something. This is urgent stuff.” And do you know what viewers? That quote is from us (i.e. The Crack magazine). And guess what? We were right. This bunch play the kind of tunes which restores your faith in tunes.
