"High Road Pilots host EP release in Barrie"

High Road Pilots are a rock 'n' roll outfit led by frontman Liam Davey.

Together with his brother, Jack Davey (guitar), Scott Grinton (drums), and Mike Spencer (bass) High Road Pilots have been very hard at work this winter and are excited to announce the release of their newest EP, titled Truth.

This is the fifth album the band has taken on the endeavour of recording the tracks by themselves. Special mention to Drew Shropshire for his time mixing and polishing the tracks into what they are now.

"Interview"

Barrie musicians will be singing the Earth's praises when artists play the World Roots Music Stages and Jam at the third annual Ecofest Barrie, on June 9 and 10. In addition to sharing ideas about creating a sustainable future, the festival will be promoting the sounds of local artists, and Liam MacDavitt, singer and guitarist for the High Road Pilots, said he is proud to support the event when they take the stage. "It's a pretty exciting event because there's a whole lot of people from the city involved and a whole bunch of groups are coming together," he said. "We're flattered that we were even asked to be involved and we're very honoured to be a part of it." After developing a reputation for high energy shows and well-crafted songs, the four-piece band is no stranger to Barrie's music scene. "We're focusing on the music," MacDavitt said. "We're really going to push the summer vibe for everyone because we'll be playing outside." (continue reading by clicking link) - The Barrie Examiner

"Song Review"

High Road Pilots Like a Fish (Part 1) Easily one of my favorite bands in the area, High Road Pilots just released Like a Fish (Part 1). Blending vocals reminiscent of Jim Morrison, with the surfey riffs you might find on early Beach Boys records, High Road Pilots offers one of most unique sounds I’ve heard in a while. Catchy, upbeat, out-of-the-ordinary and all wrapped up in the sweetness of that lo-fi basement recording; Like a Fish (Part 1) delivers the salt in the air and the waves crashing against the shore. I can’t get enough of this song. - Blah Blah Blah Magazine

"Show Review"

The High Road Pilots blew my mind last Friday at the Foxx Lounge. With tight drumming and classic guitar riffs like this you can’t go wrong, and a CD to listen to now would be nice to have. I have always been a fan of local music and many different genres, but the pilots offer something to Barrie’s music scene which is new, different and welcomed. It doesn’t have to be shredding blues licks, or metal riffs to be good, but music has to open your chest, dive in and make home in your soul and many bands can do that, and the pilots are one of them. The pilots’ sound of psychedelia, blues, and old school rock ‘n’ roll made me remember a style of music that brought people together under a sense of chillin musical freedom. Good times. I hope this band does more shows so people can smoke a bit, drink a bit and have a good time listening to some damn good music. - Sound Stage 78/Lance Holdforth

Bio

High Road Pilots are a Psych-Rock outfit led by frontman Liam Davey. Together with his brothers, Jack Davey (guitar), Sean Davey (Organ, Guitar), Scott Grinton (drums), and Mike Spencer (bass), they mix and meld the sounds of post-punk, shoe-gaze, surf and psychedelia.

The band officially formed in 2012 in Barrie, Ontario and released their first LP "Demonstrations" as well as their first EP "The B-Sides". They quickly created a buzz and became a staple in their local scene. 2014 brought a brief hiatus for the band while frontman Liam Davey and drummer Scott Grinton formed a side project known as 'The Sea Chords'. Jack Davey would later join the project leaving them one member shy of the original lineup. HRP's persistence and dedication would truly shine as they reformed under the original band name in late 2015 with young gun Mike Spencer on Bass and began working on new material immediately. In the summer of 2016 the band released "An Egg in The Desert" followed by "The Sea Sides" in October.

High Road Pilots' sound continues to evolve into something more refined and mature than ever before. Deriving influences from 60's revival and psychedelic pop groups of our time, the band delivers a captivating live show and recently dropped a new EP titled "Honeymoon Lagoon". With several releases under their belt, a plethora of live shows and performances, The Pilots have no intention of stopping.
