Biography

The past 18 months have been quite a ride for Hoboken, NJ based, Aggro-Rock band High Speed Chase. Starting from their vaunted performance at the very last New Year’s Eve show at the now defunct, legendary punk-rock club, CBGB (at the tail end of 2005, into 2006, and beyond) the band has gone through the kinds of changes that would end the careers of many a thin-skinned musician. Line-up changes, personal dramas, and the overwhelming fear that the past 7 plus years may have been a futile, uphill battle were weighing heavy like a 20-ton anchor chained to the bumper.

Needless to say, these issues barely put a dent in the chassis of what has always been a fine-tuned machine -- ready to take on the world, no matter the barriers. After playing so many shows at so many amazing venues (CBGB, Maxwell’s, Brownie’s, Continental, Irving Plaza, The Stone Pony) and having the opportunity to share the stage with so many amazing performers (The Fixx, Green Day, Reach 454, Diffuser, GlassJAw, Jesse Malin, Helmet), the remaining members of High Speed Chase decided that now is not the time to be throwing in the towel just yet.

Upon the release of their debut CD, “Speed Limit None” in 2004, it was obvious that High Speed Chase were a band to be reckoned with. Reviews of the record speak for themselves: “Speed Limit None' is a blazing, heavy, brutal assault that will make your ears bleed if you set the volume just right. Double-barrel guitars...recall the heaviest of Helmet...but with a smoothness reserved for the for the radio-friendly alt-rock bands that are popular today." –Jersey Beat. “…excellent melodies and really catchy hooks, ‘Speed Limit None’ is a rock radio station’s dream.” – The Aquarian.

Perhaps the most striking thing about High Speed Chase over their career has been their unrelenting live performances. Combine a vibrant and violent hell ride through the duality of human nature and the tragic consequences of alienation, wrapped up in a miasma of discord and despair, and High Speed Chase prove again and again that fist-to-the-face rocking with balls-to-the-wall head banging make for an out-of-body experience. Some feel dazed, others enlightened -- but all are changed in some profound, unexplainable way.

Bearing in mind the standards they have set for themselves, there can be no doubt that High Speed Chase are back with a vengeance, with frenetic attitude and appetite -- ready to begin 2007 as if the past year and a half never happened. As if renewed interest wasn’t enough, High Speed Chase recently performed and taped four songs for a future airing of FEARLESS MUSIC TV (a nationally syndicated music show that airs locally in the New York City area Saturday nights, 1am on FOX 5, featuring many of the industry’s hot, up-and-coming bands), in addition to recently performing at WE Fest (the world renowned indie-rock/D.I.Y. Music Festival in Wilmington, NC). It’s no surprise that the band’s fans were hoping they would stick it out, keep the flames burning for the faithful, deliver powerful new songs to the anxious, and get ready to make an even more cathartic new CD with the same passion and commitment that has kept High Speed Chase driving full bore down the indie-rock highway that they navigate so very well.

Lyrics

Bliss

Written By: Chris Gibson

Where’s our paradise? Make the sacrifice.

Face the rage! Feel the plight!

Pull the blinds! On your sight!

Exact revenge! Purge your hate!

Break the chains! I ask you...

(Chorus)

Where’s our paradise? Make the sacrifice.

Nothing will be gained, if there’s nothing left to lose.

Pay a worthy price.

Seek the truth! From within!

Raise your voice! And try to win!

Crush your fear! And walk the path!

Grab your life! And take it...

(Bridge)

Outside in and inside out. Dream the dream, waking up.

Take a chance, the chance you take. Live for now -- not then...

(Intrumental)
(Repeat bridge)
(Guitar break)
(Repeat Chorus)

Queen Of The Dead

Written By: C. Gibson

QUEEN OF THE DEAD
(GIBSON)

(Intro)

HERE, I STAND, AGAIN… FOOLED, MYSELF, AGAIN…

(Chorus 1)

YOU HAVE DENIED ME A CHANCE TO DEFEND.

USED AND DEFILED ME – WE STILL CAN’T BE FRIENDS.

PUSHED, AWAY, AGAIN… CRUSHED AND BRUISED AGAIN…

(Chorus 2)

YOU HAVE DENIED YOUR SHARE OF THE BLAME.

COLD HEARTED, ICE-GIRL – YOU QUEEN OF THE DEAD.

(Instrumental)

(Chorus 3)

YOU HAVE DENIED ME A CHANCE TO DEFEND.

USED AND DEFILED ME – WE STILL CAN’T BE FRIENDS.

YOU – HAVE DENIED. YOUR SHARE OF THE BLAME.

COLD HEARTED, ICE-GIRL – YOU QUEEN OF THE DEAD.

Blessed With Nothing

Written By: Chris Gibson

BLESSED WITH NOTHING
(GIBSON)

I’M DRAINED AND ANXIOUS. I’M STARVED FOR TRUTH.

A CURSED EXISTENCE. ON THE VERGE OF RUIN.

SUCCESS ADDICTION. RUNS THROUGH MY VEINS.

OBLIQUE OBSESSION. CONSUMED BY PAIN.

(Pre-Chorus)
CONTESTED PRIDE. I’M A MESS INSIDE. ON THE EDGE OF MADNESS.

ON THE EDGE OF GIVING UP.

(Chorus)
BLESSED SOMETHING. LESS THAN NOTHING.

BOMBED AMBITION. BLESSED WITH NOTHING.

SOULESS POSSESSION. I JUST DON’T CARE.

BETRAYED BY WEAKNESS. WHO SAID “LIFE’S FAIR?”

(Pre-Chorus)
CONTESTED PRIDE. I’M A MESS INSIDE. ON THE EDGE OF MADNESS.

ON THE EDGE OF GIVING UP.

(Chorus Twice)
BLESSED SOMETHING. LESS THAN NOTHING.

BOMBED AMBITION. BLESSED WITH NOTHING.

Destination Known

Written By: Bosso/Gibson

DESTINATION KNOWN
(BOSSO/GIBSON)

(Intro)

You tell me I can feel the fire but what is it that I can feel below?

You tell me I can see for miles but what is it that I will never know?

But you give me life...

(Chorus)

Destination. Here I’m crying on the phone. Destination. Stupid me now I’m alone.

Destination. Come on, tell me when I’m home. Destination known. Destination known.

(Bridge)

I keep waking up at night. I keep waking up in fright.

I keep hearing you, alright. I keep waking up. I keep waking up.

Why don’t I go smash a window? Why don’t I go sit beneath a tree?

You tell me I should see for miles but what is it that I should try to see?

But you give me life...

(Chorus)
(Instrumental break)
(Intro refrain)

You tell me I can feel the fire but what is it that I can feel below?

You tell me you can see for miles but I’ve seen things you’ll never, ever know!

But you take my life...

(Repeat chorus twice)
