High Tide

High Tide almost never came to be. Matty almost never mentioned he wanted a guitar for his birthday, Josh almost didn't receive a drum set, and Ryan almost didn't have his basement refinished with a music setup. A dream since Middle School, High Tide DID come to be through natural talent, heavy influence, a musical background, and a bit of good luck. Matty was a singer both privately and publicly for much of his childhood, Ryan had grown into an accomplished drummer and taught himself bass guitar, and Josh was a talented writer and poet- the three met and became enamoured with the Green Day hit album American Idiot, the inspirationthat caused Matty to take up guitar and Josh to take up drums. With Ryans strong musical background and Matty's years of singing and playing piano, High Tide had a solid foundation off of which to build- Josh came into his own as a drummer taking up drum lessons and quickly exceeding the expected learning curve. That 3 best friends were interested in the same style of music and shared a common dream was luck in itself: when Ryan's Dad's private music venture Backyard Jams was sold and the equipment was relocated to the Kaplan family basement was all that was necessary for the High Tide story to take off. Since the Green Day obsession, High Tide has found influence in a variety of artists, including but noot limited to State Radio, Dispatch, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, and Yes. Playing both electric and acoustic originals and covers, High Tide features two main singers and intricate harmonies. Musically advanced beyond their High School years, High Tide was the Winner of the Sharon High School 2009 Battle of the Bands and is in the process of recording its first professional CD at "Studio A" in Bristol, Rhode Island.
