"HIGHVIEW WITH DEBUT EP ‘TAKE YOUR TIME’"

HighView spent 2016 crafting a sound that would ultimately become their debut EP ‘Take Your Time’. The EP is a culmination of old melodies and lyrics that Matt had stored away for years, combined with new ideas developed through the collaborative efforts of the group. HighView’s songs have a strong mix of straight, heavy rock, mixed with progressive melodic hooks and a layer of electronic sampling. The result is a sound that is both technically impressive and accessible for fans of the heavy rock genre.
“Lyrically the EP focuses on reflections of people, places and situations over the last 10 years,” says Matt. “Songs such as ‘Reset’ and ‘The Highest Hour’ have a strong connection to individuals in
my life that have challenged me in one way or another. ‘All We Have’
is about how interconnected we are through technology today,
and the issue of digital personalities becoming more important than real personalities.”

With the EP finalised, HighView has now turned its focus towards performing, with a number of shows booked throughout Australia over the course of 2017 - Oneavenue

Bio

HighView was originally established in 2015 as a small collaborative project developed by Canberra vocalist Matt Faulkner. The intention was to create a sound and style for the project utilising a large stockpile of riffs, lyrics and beats Matt had stored away over the past 10 years. Following influences that include heavy rock acts such as Breaking Benjamin, along with more progressive rock groups including Dead Letter Circus, Matt began to scout out other local musicians that shared an interest in these styles.

With an additional four members locked in, and a creative chemistry that quickly developed within the group, Matt found that there could be more to the project than just a few experimental demos. Lead guitarist Chris Krajacic's atmospheric, high note melodies complimented Matt Kendrick's solid, heavy rhythm guitar style. While bassist Jack Lovell and drummer Matt Tennant could match each other in both technicality and versatility, whilst writing in both progressive and more traditional rock styles.

In 2016 HighView made the decision to dedicate time and energy to writing and recording. The group spent the entirety of the year crafting a sound that would ultimately become their debut EP 'Take Your Time'. The EP is a culmination of old melodies and lyrics that Matt had stored away for years, combined with new ideas developed through the collaborative efforts of the group. The result was a sound that is both technically impressive and accessible for fans of the heavy rock genre.

"For me, the EP is a reflection on the last 10 years or so", explains vocalist Matt Faulkner. "Along with utilising melodies and different ideas that I had saved up over time, lyrically there's a focus on this time period too. Just reflections on people and places that have had an impact on me".

With the EP finalised, HighView has now turned its focus towards performing, with a number of shows booked throughout Australia over the course of 2017. "We can't wait to get out of town and just see what happens", explains Matt. "We've got everything we need to put on a fantastic show, and we're looking forward to seeing some new faces in the crowd and making some new friends on the road".
