Bio
Highwind began as a long distance relationship between members; Chase Rysavy, Eric Taylor, and Troy Waggoner, with their earliest compositions being composed during breaks between university semesters. Highwind has self released two albums, “We’re All Alone” released 2014 with praise from Vancouver based magazine Permanent Rain Press stating; “Highwind might be the best thing by far to come out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan… the band is capable of being more than just your average punk band.” In 2016, Highwind self released their first full length “Cellar Door” that was recorded live off the floor at Regina’s Blue Door Studios and mixed and mastered at Moose Jaw’s Nebulus Entertainment with award winning producer Jared Robinson. Cellar Door went on to become chosen as one of Sask Music’s “Best Albums of 2016” list. They have done two DIY tours throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba as well as multiple festivals throughout Saskatchewan including the Trifecta Festival in Regina. After a four year hiatus, Highwind began working together again with the addition of new member Ehren Pfeifer in March 2021 to write and self release their latest EP “final words” February 2023 which has garnered attention from Vancouver’s arts community as well as catching the attention of one of Canada’s most renowned music publicists Eric Alper who the band have begun working with on an approach to getting their name known throughout the Canadian music scene.
