Marc Henry Nertilus (born March 20, 1996), also known by his professional name HiiDef is a Haitian-American Pop/Alternative R&B music producer under East coast management team Mic Vision. Marc’s first realization of his appreciation for music came at the age of 7 after listening to Michael Jackson’s Human Nature. This spurred Marc to begin playing the piano, join his church’s choir, and eventually start a local gospel group. By high school, Marc began to create rather than just perform music through writing songs. After writing and producing the pop single “Reasons” during his first year of college, Marc teamed up with Evens “E” Belizaire to create the entertainment group Renegade Entertainment & Music (R.E.M). In the shrills and thrills underlying the enticing drum pattern of “Reasons” one can almost feel the sounds and surroundings of childhood which Marc has mentioned is the inspiration behind his production. Marc is also inspired by mainstream artists Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Tribe Called Quest, Robert Glasper, Pharrell, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, and Erykah Badu. Marc has stated that he believes that music was created to make you feel on a deeper level and with the release of his first EP “Magic Hour” in the fall of 2017 he hopes to help in restoring that feeling.
