Hello Guys and Dolls,
I hope everyone is doing great!

As most of you know, it’s in my nature to share a fascinating and refreshing new discovery! One that will surely make the hair stand in the back of your necks or at least tweak your interest. No, this is not an urban legend, but possibly a legend in the works?

Last night, Omar and I attended a show for a new, up and coming artist by the name of Hilary Mcrae. She is a singer with a sweet appeal that delivers a mysterious sound with her dark velvety voice. Her lyrics seem like emotional journal entries that continuously roused her audience! A particular song I enjoyed was a

sadlove song, that she introduced by saying “this is a song for someone that affected me for a minute” (I’m ad-libbing but I think I got the gist of it). She has an excellent sense of humor on stage that is supported by her intense musical talents. Ms. Mcrae is extraordinarily charismatic, lyrically moving, and exciting to watch since she is able to keep her audience in a trance while playing her ivories. Think Tori Amos, live in concert. Any artist that controls their instrument and is still able to dramatically deliver their melodies is deserving of my wonderment. Hilary, is quite good at what she does and in this cookie-cutter musical- poppy- world we are living in, there is a certain appreciation I have for an artist that allows me to daydream.

Nonetheless, she is a new artist stepping into a difficult industry, that can be shady and dazzling all in one. Omar said it best, “She is deserving of a better and larger audience!”, and I have to agree. I am sharing this event with all of you, so you can experience her for yourself. She will be in town for one more evening, at the I/O Lounge in the Design District. The concert is on Monday February 20, 2006.
