"Rust Zine"

What we really like about Hillary Barleaux is that she mixes sounds from the 60’s, the 90’s and today while staying individual and relevant. That’s because she writes and performs straight from the heart. Her self-titled debut album showcases a multi-talented artist with powerful skills and the wisdom to use them appropriately. - Rust Zine

"Allston Pudding"

"Weaving together playful lyricism and intricate, instrumentally peculiar melodies, Barleaux shows her grasp on theory and composition, but keeps the songs simple and sweet enough to remain palatable." - Perry Eaton

"In Your Speakers"

"Her piano-driven songs are both dreamy and dark, with enough bright instrumentation to keep the musical tone light and fun." - Ashley Pike

"Songwriting Magazine (UK)"

"For some, success comes quickly, almost too easily. It’s a story that’s been read many a time: with barely a song to call their own, an artist breaks into the mainstream and sees their spirit broken by a frenzied attempt to claw a follow-up from their songwriting canon. Not so for Brooklyn songwriter Hillary Barleaux. Barleaux’s self-titled debut album is the product of an eight-year journey as a songwriter and this measured development shows in the album’s nine tracks." - Damien Girling

"Time Out"

Singer-songwriter Hillary Barleaux, a regular on the circuit, offers sparse, slow-paced, melancholic tunes, which are piano-driven and err on the reedy side. - Time Out

"Brooklyn-based singer Hillary Barleaux joins the ranks of fellow female acts like Feist and Fiona Apple with her piano-driven baroque pop... and with her punctuated warble and hints of psychedelia, the NYC songstress creates a sound that’s certainly not short on emotional drama." - Beth Kellmurray

Originally from Upstate New York, Hillary Barleaux got started in music at the ripe age of four. An inherited old Steinway piano was the only entertainment on her ten acre farm in Delaware County. Hillary put words to music after writing her first pop song at thirteen.

Going on to attend Berklee College of Music, Hillary crafted her song and wrote frequently, gigging around the Boston scene. She later raised the money for her debut self-titled album via Kickstarter, which she finished recording before relocating to Brooklyn.

Hillary received impressive reviews and mentions in AM NY, TimeOut, and more. She enjoys gigging both solo and with a band.
