Hillbilly Rickshaw

Hillbilly Rickshaw started with the song "Someday", written as a tribute to Dominic's father after his passing. With much praise from friends and family, he was asked to play a benefit for a close friend with cancer. With only 3 weeks to prepare, he turned to childhood friends Tom Theres and Darrell Moore, to play guitars for this show. Tom then asked his brother-in-law, Sam Chiavola, to play drums. After a very successful show, Hillbilly Rickshaw was formed.

We immediately started playing local venues while continuing to write material. Looking to complete the line-up, Brendon Irons was asked to join the band as its bassist. Hillbilly Rickshaw was now complete.

Our music can be described as multi-genre, reaching fans of rock, southern rock, and old school country. Writing about real life situations with soul shaking rhythms, you immediately identify with the bands music. Coming from different musical backgrounds, our influences are as distinctive as Hillbilly Rickshaw itself.

Hillbilly Rickshaw has been together for 6 months. With driving acoustic guitars and a hard hitting rhythm topped with an explosive live show, Hillbilly Rickshaw has created a sound that is relatable to a diverse audience.

Hillbilly Rickshaw decided to submit to SXSW and recorded 3 songs live in a few hours at a friend’s basement studio. We hope you enjoy what you hear and we look forward to being chosen to play SXSW.
