Hill Williams

Hill Williams

BandAmericanaBluegrass

HIll Williams has taken the usual bluegrass instrumentation and tried to make a sound that has a traditional feel but is fresh at the same time.

Biography

Hill Williams came up with an idea of using bluegrass instruments and trying to make something a bit more ‘alt’. Can you use that abbreviation on its own? Gee I sure hope so! Anyway, Hill Williams leans towards being an Alt Bluegrass band.

This one feller, David, came up with the chord structures, words and such and then had his (hotshot) friends come in and add their bluegrass touches. A couple of beautiful female voices put a final sheen on the results. The songs range from happy...... to....... sad. But always lush.

Hill Williams live in Toronto.

This Worried Mind

Written By: David Norris

I work the night and day
to make my pay
I work the night and day
then lay my money down.
I toil and I slave
to earn my wage
I toil and I slave
then lay my money down.

Bring me spirits, bring me wine
I need to ease this worried mind.

It's time to quit this town,
I'm westward bound
It's time to quit this town,
this journey I'll arrange.
The trouble that I've found
has got me down
This trouble that I've found,
I'm ready for a change.

Bring me distance, bring me time
I need to ease this worried mind.

No longer will I run,
those days are done
No longer will I run,
I'll lay my body down.
Upon a cool white bed,
I'll rest my head
Upon a cool white bed,
I'll lay my body down.

Bring me slumber, bring me night
I need to ease this worried mind.

Last Night

Written By: David Norris

Last night I saw clouds and rain.
Then stars made their way again.
Waiting there to guide me
Over lands of plenty.

Passed by aged mountains high.
Marched forth t’ward the morning sky
The sun did shine upon me
All my woes were set free.

Last night I saw clouds and rain.

All I own

Written By: David Norris

I work this land, the best I can.
No hired hands have I employed.

I stand alone, my fate unknown.
And all I own I cannot enjoy.

But sleep, it ain't so far away.
An end to this long lonesome day.

I rest my head upon this bed.
The life I've led has left me forlorn.

But sleep, it ain't so far away.
An end to this long lonesome day.

And sleep, it ain't so far away.
An end to this long lonesome day.

Hell Bound

Written By: David Norris

Where have you gone my baby?
Where have you gone to?
Didn't you say you'd save me?
Didn't you mean to be true?

Hell bound.
Hell bound.
Hell bound.
So lost you'll never be found.

What have you done my desperate one?
What has this come to?
I'll pray for the end of what you've begun
and the darkness that falls around you.

Hell bound.
Hell bound.
Hell bound.
So lost you'll never be found.

Carry Me Home

Written By: David Norris

Rollin', rollin', rollin' river
Rollin' to carry me home.
By and by I'll be delivered
Rollin' to carry me home.

Home, home, bittersweet home;
The place where I belong.
Home, home, bittersweet home;
Away, I've been for so long.

Holy, holy, holy rollers
Rollin' for a piece of my soul.
By and by I'll hear them holler
Rollin' for a piece of my soul.

Home, home, bittersweet home;
The place where I belong.
Home, home, bittersweet home;
Away, I've been for so long.

Fallin', fallin', fallin' deeper
A whole lot deeper in debt.
By and by I'll meet my keeper
A whole lot deeper in debt.

Home, home, bittersweet home;
The place where I belong.
Home, home, bittersweet home;
Away, I've been for so long.
