"Lend Your Ears - Himalaya"

Himalaya have a nice woozy spaced out walk to their sound. They give you those kind of riffs that you could get lost in on a hot summer day. Hazy vocals carry the daydream along as they blend perfectly into the echoes of guitars. The band’s website say’s they are in the studio working on new material, but it seems that it hasn’t been updated since April so no clue on the status. Here’s hoping for more of this soon but for now enjoy ‘31′ from their CD Sampler one. - Music Is Not Dead

"This Evening: River Deep. Mountain High."

Loudest Standard Tap show ever? Could be. Ex-Three-4-Tens cosmonauts Himalaya and Phil Moore Browne take the stage to make the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association very angry indeed. Yo: If it’s too loud, you’re too old. - Philebrity.com

Bio

To put it plainly, Himalaya are a supergroup of sorts. In the summer of 2005 the band spawned from the ashes of the critically acclaimed Philadelphia based psychedelic rock combo Three Four Tens, with the addition of a former longtime member of Philadelphia's cosmic shapeshifters the Asteroid #4.

What started as a recording project soon came to fruition as a solid musical venture that lies beyond comparison. The best attempt follows: Psychedelic drones accompany lush harmonies and pop sensibilities in the vein of Syd Barret, Spacemen 3, and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Meanwhile, a persistent rhythm section tends to recall the likes of Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Add some pedal steel to the mix and one is reminded that the landscape of Himalaya is one of true aural bliss.

To see the band live is an experience in and of itself. When the group take the stage as Himalaya, a presence is commanded that cannot be ignored. Generally referred to as one of the loudest bands to see live, Himalaya leaves the audience drifting in a daze with a ringing of satisfaction in their ears.
