Diners who hang around after 5 p. m. wll have a chance at gift certificates for Molly's! It's a real rock & roll attitude in the old deli! Gravelwhip formed in 1997 with Friesner at the helm. Band members have changed several times since then, but the music has remained alive. The band has recorded 3 studio albums- "Stepping Stair," "Get Your Whippin'" and the latest, "Freedom for the People." The latest was recorded and released in 2010, and features songs that explore the strength and liberation found in music. "Freedom for the People" is the power we give to others through music," Friesner said, adding that the song from the album will be a prominent fixture at Satudays Show. The Show will also Feature a new track, "Rock & Roll Your Baby," which will soon be released on a single on Itunes. ( Note "Freedom for the People" is also available for preview and purchase on itunes.) Friesner has written about 200 songs and sounds like Tom Petty meets Credence Clearwater Revival. His roots came from early rock icons, like Jimi Hendrix & Led Zepellin which show up in the cover tunes the band performs. Gravelwhip came together as a group of friends in mid-90s. These days the band includes members Paul Hiaumet, Brad Mock, and Ronnie Green, with Friesner on rhytym guitar and lead vocals. For the past few months, Friesner has been performing acoustic gigs at Molly’s an Saturday evenings. The singer/songwriter said he enjoys playing downtown. He recalled a time when he and his friends used to walk around downtown, usually on their way to picking up the latest 45-record from the Beatles or Zepellin.
