"Quixote News"

"Listening to Hitch has been like putting on my favorite pair of jeans, or my favorite hat. The unplugged sound of strings and vocals are like a journey of conversations with an old friend taking me home, to sit on the docks in New Orleans, a plate full of crawfish, and the cooler full of beer watching the river flow by.

It’s as easily comfortable at sunrise breakfast in Baltimore, or a sunset dinner at Mo’s on the Pacific coast. Tall glass of lemonade after bailing hay in July in Ohio, and that hot cup of chocolate, with a splash of peppermint schnapps in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve.

Feels like home."

Bio

One could say Hitch was formed in the fall of 2001. But with all the changes they’ve been through, the members of Hitch feel as if they have reinvented themselves on a regular basis. Originally an acoustic trio, Hitch began as Evan Taff (vocals/guitar), Rich Whitfield (guitars/vocals), and Drew Bitsko (bass guitar) working out their first songs in a cramped, acoustically-challenged basement with a voracious rabbit gnawing on their cords. Today, Hitch has emerged as a refreshing new addition to the local DC live music scene. Incorporating an array of influences and elements into their mostly-original sets - from rock, to blues, to reggae, to jazz - “the guys” are continually growing into their skins. With the newest additions of Matt Smith (keys) and Danny Schwartz (drums/percussion/vocals), the sound of this band has been uplifted to a new place, which is in many ways vastly different from their humble beginnings one late November eve. Although some of the same tunes from their initial jams remain, Hitch’s shows have progressed with revitalized energy and the creative fervor of a dynamic repertoire. They proudly owe this to the support of growing friendships and trust created through their musical community comprised of friends, family, and everyone interested in sharing Hitch’s promising musical future.
You can find Hitch playing throughout the Washington, DC/Metropolitan area. Just click on the SHOWS tab to find out when and where. See them often as one never knows how or when this eclectic group of songwriters and musicians may share their talents with you...even if it is just a crazier Hawaiian shirt or a new story to introduce a song!!!
