"Do You Mind?"

Sounding like Slowcoaster’s evil twin, Hive Mind have been slowly but surely starting to buzz around Halifax’s hot spots. And, while the trio’s members all have different opinions on which genres constitute “good” music, their combined sound has really started to gel. “I usually listen to and play a lot heavier music and [guitarist Colin Crowell] listens to more jazz, so it works out to be a weird meld,” says bassist Aaron Cooper. “My brother” — drummer Ryan Cooper — “suggested the name Hive Mind for a variety of different reasons, but basically, it’s just about a collective way of thinking.” Hive Mind will be performing a more subdued set on June 9 at Ginger’s Tavern — but no Sting covers, we promise! However, they also know how to get their rock on. Cooper says that the band is thinking about recording a double EP, a la Foo Fighters, to showcase their groove-oriented music on one disc while hammering out their harder material on the other. - The Coast, Halifax N.S.
