WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF PETER GREEN AND FLEETWOOD MAC, THE SUPREMES, THE BEATLES AND A PHILOSOPHER GOT TOGETHER TO MAKE MUSIC ?

Biography

Groovy sound made up of alluring bass lines, solid drums and dynamic guitar and the Icelandic "þvergrip" combined with Róberts vocals, make a good solid show of rock and roll. Hljómsveitin Ég was formed somewhere in the year 2001 (band members do not agree when). They ended the year 2002 by releasing their debut album, Skemmtileg lög (Fun Songs, loosely translated). The first single Geitungarnir mínir did well in radio airplay and was somewhat a hit on the national radio. In the summer of 2005, Hljómsveitin Ég released their second album, bearing the humble title of Plata ársins(The Album of the Year). The making of the album was difficult due to lack of financing. The money problems were solved when an old friend and a fan, decided to invest in the band; that friend being no other than Barcelona football superstar Eidur Gudjohnsen. The band was so grateful that their songmachine wrote a song in his honour which was a hit on radio and was one of three nominations Hljómsveitin Ég was granted at the Icelandic music Awards 2005. The other nominations being Album of the year (ironically) and Video of the year. Their third album LÚXUS UPPLIFUN was released in September 2010 and has gotten fantastic response and since then, has either been nominated or won several awards. Hljómsveitin Ég are currently working on their fourth album, called ÍMYND FÍFLSINS.
