Bio
Hoag & the Weasel is a brother duo originating from Vernon, NJ. Anthony Assante (guitar) and Vincent Assante (violin) integrate folk instrumentation with rhythmic textures of progressive rock and modern musical nuances while reinventing the possibilities of a guitar-violin duo. It is all driven by a high energy foot-stomping pulse from each of their self-made foot rattles and a bass drum. The brothers have previously performed in various bands together, but turning to the minimalism of a duo forced the focus to musical purism. The result has captivated audiences ranging from folk songwriter showcases, DIY houses, and even metal shows. They create an experience that has been described as cinematic, tribal, and refreshingly new. Being only a year young, Hoag & the Weasel recently played a Sofar Sounds show, has been a featured act in NJ venues, and has just begun to nationally extend their reach through touring.
